Does anyone have one of these. Would a .60 fit in it. I love the look and would like to get one.

I love ZLINs ... that's why I like the Chipmunk too ... can you send me one? I would stick with a 52 2C or something like the Saito 72. That would be nice ... keep the weight low.

The reason i ask is i have a .60 os sitting around with no plane, but i guess i could swap with someone for a 46 or 50something. Ya they are a very nice looking plane.

[8D]I have an OS .60FP (plain bearing) in the same sized CAP 232 and it works fine. If a .52FS will fit in both size and weight, the .60 2 stroke will be no problem.

a new guy just started flying with our flying group. he has one those nitroplanes zlin 50's. we were all admiring it because it is a very nice looking plane. but he told us that he was very disappointed with the covering thats on it. he said it was not a known covering and it is not very durable and it wrinkles and sags easily and the covering is constantly coming loose on it. but it is a great flyer. he was doing some really good 3-d flying with it. he had a large 4-stroke on his but i do not know what size engine it was. i hope this does not burst your bubble about getting one.

Russell - that is sad, they come up with nice planes and nowadays they stinge on covering. Heard such complains on some big brands too. Great looking plane that flies well but the covering sucks.

I was in the process of ordering a ZLIN but the shipping was $37 for UPS ground from California to Rochester NY. My local hobby shop brings Hangar 9 and Great Planes airplanes in via UPS at the standard price which means I can get a H9 Twist 3D 60 or a Pulse 40 for the same money as the Zlin. But the Zlin is sooo cool looking !

The major distributors in Champaig Ill such as Tower and Horizon must have negotiated very very good rates with UPS. Maybe Nitroplanes did also and has hidden profit from shipping like so many internet businesses but they would sell more planes if they could get the shipping costs down.

It all comes out in the wash. Nitroplanes prices their models lower than comparable models and then charges more for shipping. Ends up being the same relative price.

Shipping price charged is related to the distance from you and the size of the box.

On some planes it can indeed be a "wash", on others thought there are still many bargains to be had.

---

Most of the Asian branded ARF's seem to have the same problems with the covering.

Namely that the glue releases after exposure to glow fuel, causing either ( or both ) the covering and trim to come loose.

This does not seem to be a vendor specific problem.

This annoyed me to no end, and I was constantly applying glue, CA or other means to keep the covering down.

Someone here posted a tip about using clear fuel proof spray-on "paint" or clear coats.

I tried Top-Flite Clear Kote on my "Asian" planes and this has worked quite well.

It's relatively cheap insurance against problems with the covering lifting and very easy to do.

That said the Ultra or Monokote covered planes do hold up better in this regard, and I've not had to resort to the transparent spray with most of the planes I have thus covered.
