Default zen 30

I've got a OS28fsr w/macs tuned pipe. I thinking of getting a Zen 30 for it. Has anyone flown the Zen with a 25size 2 stroke? I've searched the posts but didnt get a good answer.
Thanks,
Mark

It's a fairly big plane. I don't think the .28 FSR would have enough power to fly it to its potential.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. Just wanted some opinions.
Since its shows a 40 4 stroke, maybe a lite LA40 or 46 would work better.

ThunderTiger Pro .36 fits nicely under the cowl. Other.36 engines would too.

I have a Zen 30 which I have been flying for about 4 years now with an OS 48 Surpass. Great engine with lots of power for this plane. I do not get into 3D so the 48 is more than adequate. If you want to get lots of power use a Saito 56 four stroke.

I'm still thinking about it. I dont do 3d and I dont think I ever will. I like to fly the sportsman pattern manuvers. The Zen 30 has a 46" w/s and 463 w/a. Weight of 4#. The .28 w/tp should fly the sportsman pattern. I dont need unlimited vertical, but I do need enough. The la40 weighs about the same as a .28 or .36 engine. It will swing a prop from 9x7 to 11x4. I have both engines[.28os and la40].
On your .48 fs did yours require alot of tail weight? How much was the total weight? Last but not least, are you happy with the kit and flight performance?

antique opa

I did not have to add any additional weight. I was ab;e to move the battery around to acheive proper balance. Verticle is not unlimited but is much more than adiquate. I am very happy with the Zen 30 since it is small enough to take to the field without disassembly or reassembly although it would require two servo wires to be plugged in and two wing bolts screwed down. I am very happy with flying charastics but I like to fly bigger planes. I would like to try a Zen 90 some day when the pocket book will allow.
Good luck with yours. If you do not want to go 4 stroke and are looking for good power, think about an OS 32 SX.

I have the Zen 30 that I fly with a Leo 37 on a pipe. I got the engine and pipe from Just Engines. This seems to me to be a nice combination. I would think that the TT 36 would work as good.

Lovinero,

The OS 46 FX is most likely over kill but I am sure the frame will handle the added power. If proped correctly you will have a rocket ship. I used a four stroke and had no difficulty with speed or power. You will find that the ZEN 30 will fly just like the ZEN 90.
I have never had a bad flying plane from World Models.

i was thinking about putting the hitech 5245mg mini servos in this plane. does anybody know if this would work without having to add on to the servo holes? thanks for the help.

the zen30 with the TT36 is a rocket!!! i couldn't believe the speed it had... i think the 28 would be a better match for standard and pattern. they 36 basically made it a racer, which it wasn't designed to be!
