I have a SuperSportster .40 and I have been looking at some planes that may have some more capabilities than the sportster. I have seen the Global Freestyle at Quantum and it boasts some 3D abilities. I thought of putting an OS 50SX on it. Does anyone have any comments about this plane and setup or about any other planes for that matter. Thanks.

I have a Hangar 9 pizazz I just picked up for 129.00, great plane and H9 quality for the price, I can not speak for the plane you are talking about.......but I try to stick with the "major" manufactures for ARF's, in case there is a problem
Some other planes you may want to look at:
Carl Goldberg EX-TREME330
Morris Hobbies profiles
The only reason I chose the pizazz over these is because I am not a fan of profile type planes.
Just my 2 cents

Just my opinion, don't blast me. I have flown (not owned) a magic, it was fine. And a pizzazz, it was fine. But I bought (and then bought again a year later when I toasted it) a SIG Somethin' Extra. IMO, much more plane, looks better, and flys like a "real" plane.
If I want crazy 3D, I'll fly my PBF. But for the "real" 3D, I like the SE! And after almost a year with a 46fx, I sprung for the OS 50sx, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I LOVE IT! Straight up, hovers like crazy, and now it knife edges, never would with the 46fx(but that's a great engine for the Magic, straight up REALLY fast!) I just added a BUNCH to the rudder, haven't flown it yet, but hopeing for knife edge loops!
I'm not saying the others are bad, and you will pay more ($200) for the SE, but for me it's worth it.
One I will put down is the GP Dazzler. I returned it to the LHS without starting it. Many reasons, but I hated it!

Try one of those.
The wings are interchangeable and we can supply model with both sets of wings.
LARK 3D.......Fun/Fly ARF $209.00
LARK X........Sport/Pattern $219.00
Planes have revolutionary FIBERGLASS LEADING EDGE.
Empty weight: 32oz. /36oz.

I am not blasting you.......
I think it is funny that we have had opposite experience with the same planes...
I too had a Sig SE, built it from kit, lost it 2 days after, then re-built.
I could never get my SE to 3d, not even close, I did get it too hold a knife edge.....after I added 2 inches to the rudder. I was using a piped os46fx.
I owned a pizazz as my second plane with no computer radio and used to rip the landing gear off it every day. I sold that out of frustration.
The reason I went back to the Pizazz was because I got to fly one last year with computer and my 3 years of experience.........what a difference, with 3d rates and power this plane was great.
I liked the SE, just thought it was too easy to land, which became a problem when i switched back to my more difficult planes. I could hover my SE, but it always looped out of aggressive move with elevator.
Having 27% and 33% planes now I am always looking for a plane to emulate the feel of the big planes in a 40 size package, I am not a fan of profiles so the pizazz is the closest so far for me.

My opinion is since you don't like profiles. Buy the GP U-Can-D0. Its hovers real well with a good 91 2 stroke. If you like 4 strokes go with the Saito100.
I have 1 with a ST90 and moosecan muffler on it. and it flys great hovers real good to. But it does have coupling in knife edge though. Overall it a good plane.

I don't want to go get a U-can, because I fly with a club that doesn't have many members and there is another guy at my field with a U-can, I just don't want to have two of the same planes out there every weekend. I appreciate the info on the SE and the Pizzaz. Do you guys know anything about these planes offered up by Modest-Master, above? They look pretty cool, but I don't know how big and what size engine. I have heard lots of great things about the SE, but not so much about the Pizzaz. I'm still looking though and don't know what I'm going to do just yet. Hopefully there will be more responses to this thread for me to make a final decision. Thanks again.

I was extremely happy with my super sportster until I got a somethin extra. WOW I love this little plane. Yes okay it needs a little to do some serious 3d. I'm in the process of reworking the rudder, shaving a few ounces, and flight trimming mine. The plane is a great start though, you won't be disappointed.

I know a little about this manufacture, and have seen some of the larger planes in action. They seemed pretty good, altho out performed by a UcanDO3D
But for the money, if you do not like the pizazz go with the Sig SE. I do not like the covering and the color scheme on the Lark planes above, just my .02
Like I mentioned earlier.....I have had good luck sticking with the Major manufactures such as H9, SIG, GP, when it comes to ARF's.
Because you are not building yourself you can not control the quality. I had quality issues with a GP extra300 1/4 scale, so bad they replaced the entire plane after I owned and flew it for months.
Now ask yourself if the smaller manufactures have support like this?
Also I try to buy almost everything from my LHS, if you are going to stick with this hobby you should develope a relationship with yours.

I agree with Gordo!
I have flown both the Pizzaz and SE and would go with the SE (just putting my second SE together right now - sold my first one with about 130 flights on it and decided I had to have another one). From my experience with both the Pizzaz and the SE is that they both can do it all, but the SE has a few pluses: you can take the wing off which is a big plus for me if I want to take more than one plane to the field; it looks more like a real plane than a fun fly model like the Pizzaz IMHO, and it is built very well. I don't think you will go wrong with either one - it' the SE for me!

Do a search in the "3D" forum. Tons of information there. Here's my 2 cents worth. I have flown the Pizazz w /.61 and the Somethin Extra w/.46. This plane not only flies better that the two but is easier to land (The owners of the other planes will agree, they would rather fly my Freestyle). They are primarily fun-fly type of planes. The freestyle is a pattern/funfly. I fly w/ ys .63 and I just love it. I think the one thing that separates this plane from others is its slow flight characteristics. I can fly pattern routings at 1/4 throttle and it tracks very well, lands slower than my trainer (even better than SE). If you get this plane, and you fly off grass, do yourself a favor and get the Modeltech Sukhoi 40 landing gear from hobbypeople. Larger, stiffer, and much better looking. I currently fly with an apc 12x8 but just put 13x6 on (now waiting on weather). One thing I like doing is taxiing about 5ft then taking off straingt vertical until I can barely see it (like the oohs and aahs). Not a bad deal for $168, and you will love the 50 on it.

Oops.... I was commenting on the Global Freestyle. The other 2 planes I was comparing it to were the Somethin Extra and the Pizazz.
Sorry, was in the middle of a conference call while typing (everybody does it....right???).

Heads up, Chief Aircraft now has in stock, (under whats new) a Giles 3D 40 size funfly with a nice fuse ...on or about 150.00 and it has a full flying rudder, and an all up weight under 5 lbs...4.8 I think.
I just installed a Saito 50 and I saw it hover w/ Webra 32 on a mouse can..it;s laser cut, spot on beautiful covering..nice thick fiberglass cowl and wheelpants..
Made by CMPro, they build planes for Yellow ac, and World models...
Extreemly nice bird.
I have a thread in the 3D forum w/picks called Giles 3D..first look here : http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...65&forumid=230
Good luck,
Mikee
