If I could only own 2 airplanes in my lifetime, 1 would be the UltraStick 60 and the other would be the Goldberg Sukhoi 26MX.

I like my Sukhoi. I have the 2300 on it. Like you are saying about the g90, it needs to spin faster than what they claim. I never liked the 18-8 prop, and the 18-6 is too little pitch at that rpm. Some run a 16-8, but the big cowl does a number on that. I use a 16-10 for best performance. It turns just over 9000, and it still throttles very well.

I have a new g90 with a 13-8 on it. I haven't flown it yet, still on the run in stand. I used to use a 12-6 on my 60's, so that sounds really small for a 90.

Makes no difference what you start with. Floats can be mounted to any plane. You can put them on P-51 if you want. They need to mount in the same place, relative to the cg, regardless. Obviously, the cg needs to be checked and adjusted after they are mounted, but that holds true for all float planes.
Where did I say you can't mount floats on any plane?[&:]
I didn't say you cant mount floats on an Ultrastick. I'm saying that you are more likely to have to have to move the gear or add weight to make them work. And yes you can add weights to P51....it probably won't fly worth a crap so it would make no sense to add them. If you trying to find the right plane for floats and adding them is going to make the plane not fly well or be impractical compared to another logical choice than we call that "normally" a "bad" choice. I'm saying that the floats added to the SuperStunts will be easily and lead to a better performance plane.

Have you flown both? No... Enough said.

Sure it will fly better. It's got more wing area. That's the only reason, though. Other than that, the two planes will react the same to adding floats. The super stunts will also fly better with them off, will it not? Both will suffer from the weight and the drag. One having a nosewheel and the other a tailwheel is not part of this equation. I'm sure everybody else reading this thread is sitting back and laughing at one of us.

Time to go fly. Have a great day!

Yes the SuperStunts will fly better with the floats off....
And, it will also fly better than the UltraStick does with both of them having floats on, and way, way, way better than the P51.

Thats my point for the 3rd time....
The guy is asking help for the "best" choice. If a P51 would have been better, I would have suggested that.

On the SuperStunts, you probably can just add floats "directly" to the existing gear and go. On the Stick, I'm less inclined to think so. Also, its going to be flying even more like a lead brick than it already does. It will work though or it can be made to work.

A friend of mine has an Ultra Stick 40 on floats powered by an OS .70. Flies great.

On the Super Stunts, it is a very lightly built airplane. Two friends of mine folded the wings on the plane so no one around here flies them any more. I'd go with the Ultra Stick.

Well the SuperStunts 60 has removable wings and an aluminum wing tube.
I find it amazing that the wings would fold on it.

On the 40 sized, your probably right. It would take less full dive and pull straight up abuse.

BTW, I was suggesting the 60 sized SuperStunts. If your going with the 40 sized, then its closer to a wash.

Gepic asked if the ultra stick or the super stick is a better plane to buy. The ultra stick is the better to answer his question.
