So now that I have the wonderful opportunity of building another one of these, does/can anyone post a picture of how you beefed up the landing gear support? I will definitely beef that area up during the rebuild, there's no reason not to now.

Rcfan, the thing that I noticed on the landing gear was that the block itself wasn't weak but the very thin plywood aft of it. It has alot of cooling vents stamped into it also in case you go electric and those cooling vents really take away from the structural integrety of the landing gear blocks themselves. When they go - IT ALL GOES!LOL So, I just cut a piece of 1/8" plywood to fit against the existing landing gear block to as far back as I could get it and epoxied it in. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the install.
P.S. I am still trying to get those custom skiis from my friend that he made out of an old bug deflector. When I do, I will post pics of them.

hey Jeff,(or anyone for that matter)

I have a futaba 6exap and the right aileron trim quit working. It did this a while back and was followed by the ailerons and elevator quitting completely. I found a loose wire and re-soldered it. My trim went out again today and I landed it rightaway. My question is if the wire is the problem again, which I am going to check today at work, or is it just covering another, BIGGER, problem inside the radio.

Oooh, don't sound good... maybe a job for your Futaba service centre, at least they should be able to give some form of guarantee and a thorough checkout. After all I bet your radio wouldn't cost as much as one of your planes. Also if I have a bad crash ( had only had two, touch wood! ) I always replace the X'tal as they are the most fragile.

I'm considering a wing from the Revolver for a project. Would an owner of a Revolver please provide the dimensions of the wing? Root chord, tip chord and thickness at root are the dimensions needed most.

Just happen to have one sitting next to me... Root chord is... 315mm, Tip chord is... 165mm, Max thickeness at root is... 45mm and 25mm at tip. Ailerons are 550mm in length and width has slight taper from 50 to 45mm. Hope that helps, Paul

Ahook, is the loose wire that you soldered in the servo, tx or Rx? if it is in the servo, just replace the servo. If it is in the Reciever or Transmitter, you really need to send it back the Futaba service center. It takes about 10 days to get it back. You need piece of mind because if something stops working in the air you will loose you airplane and or engine and internal components not to mention that it could be dangerous. I hope that you can sort this one out. I have had servos starting to act up because of moisture in them and when 1 servo starts acting up it seems to affect the other servos too in the form of chattering. I almost acts like interference.

I resoldered the wire in the transmitter today. I am going to fly it tomorrow. All the ground tests went good today. If there is any more signs of trouble, the transmitter is gone, back to the manufacturer. Thanks for all the help.

Ahook, if you re-soldered something in your transmitter, do you think that they may void your warranty? I hope it is fixed for you. Happy flying.
Oh, I am going to buy some skiis for my revolver tomorrow and maybe fly it on Sunday. Check out how cold it has been here lately. It is getting down to 0 degrees at night and in the low teens in the day. I have spring fever so bad right now - this just sucks!!!!

It is going to be about 70 today with 4mph winds. It is so hard to fly around here with temperatures and conditions like this. I guess I will have to make the best of it and try to fly. It might be hard though.

I know what you mean about bad flying conditions. I just got home from flying my Revolver at the
local field and what a mess. Temp was a bone chilling 70 deg. with a 5 mph. easterly breeze causing a wind chill factor of 67 deg. That's what you have to endure for living in So Cal. Now for the real facts...This was the 8th flight on my Revolver powered with an O. S. .75 ax. This is the smoothest
flying plane that I have ever flown. My custom landing gear has served me very well with no other modifications to the fuse...even with a few bouncy landings. It's hard to tell just how much speed I'm
getting because in relation to a few delta wing rockets that are flown at my field... my Revolver looks kind of slow. I still think I'm getting 100+ mph in straight lever flight. Need a radar gun that works to get an accurate reading. This is a great plane to practice pattern flight and since I have only flown 3D up to now I find myself flying this bird 80% of the time. Oh, by the way, I was using a 12-8 APC prop so I think when I get the nerve to change to the 11-9 that seems to be the best combo, I might give those Delta flyboys a run for the money.
You guys keep this post going , I always like to hear what you all are doing with your Revolvers.

I had a good day today. I made the best landing I have ever had. GREASE!!!!! Came in with a crab, put in a little rudder and WOW!!!! So I packed it up and went home. I know when to quit. On another note, I got a chance to radar gun it. My first pass was 99mph. My second was visably faster but my radar guy got scared and ducked. SISSY!!!!

Joe, I agree. This is the best flying plane that I have ever flown. It is so smooth and predictable. I love it. I was using a 12x6 and had it tuned to 10500rpm. I would like to try a 12x5 but my LHS doesn't have them.

Oh yea. No radio problems!!!!

Hey Ahook. 102 huh?!! Wow, that is fast. Is that with the new 60? That is what I want to put on mine. I did go to the LHS saturday and bought a pair of skiis for my Revolver. I don't think that the snow will go away anytime soon and if I want to fly, I am going to have to do it in the white stuff. I did see a little helicopter for 55 bucks there and bought it. It is called a reflex and it flies great. So, it is storming outside now and I put 6 flights on it this afternoon in my living room. Then, I got on the computer and bought a new heli out of Hobby-Lobby. That is what happens when you are cooped up inside and get bored. If the weather breaks, I will fly my Revolver this week.

Jeff, yea, that is with the new .61fx. I am going to be trying a couple of different props and see if I can find which one it likes best. I have been using a 12x6apc. I am going to try a 12x5 master airscrew. My .46 liked those ones better. They are lighter and allow for more R's. More to come.

I know how you feel, John. It has been stormin' for the last week here too. The worst winter in 10 years. It is so bad that all of the schools in Spokane are closed for the rest of the week! Oh, by the way at the LHS the skiis that I was going to buy for my Revolver are back ordered. They will probably have them by the time the snow melts.......LOL

Back in business!

This one didn't take me half as long to build (10 hours or so) and it balanced perfectly! Not laterally, but horizontally was right on the money. I had to use 3/4oz to balance it laterally, what have you guys had to use? My first plane only took 1/4oz for lateral balance.

I learned from my first one though, this one's cowl looks 100% better than the first - see pics. It was such a close cut that I had to take off the valve covers to get the cowl on and off - but I love it, it's perfect. Hopefully I won't have to take the cowl off much.

One of my aileron servos jitters just a little when it's idle. It only does it for a few seconds then quits. It's not that jitter when it's just trying to equalize, it's a different type of jitters that worries me slightly. Do you think I should switch it out? It works just fine when I move the sticks. I think I'll switch it and the crystal out just for insurance. It all works and radio checks just fine right now. I want to fly it bad, but at the same time, I don't want to crash first flight due to some electronic issue. What do you guys think?

Nice job rcfan. I really like the checkers inside the cockpit. I would definitely either change out that servo or do some investigating on what is causing the problem. I had a servo that chattered like that and it would cause interference in the rx and all of the servos would chatter. It ultimatly ended with a totalling crash. I will never do that again. Good servos for this plane are cheap insurance and piece of mind. I don't want to hear of you crashing that pretty plane on your first flight now. Good luck.
