Thats good that you are getting your field extended, makes for nicer roll outs on landings

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
My 2 cents. I am using an OS .70 FS. Original prop was 12x7. I too had a problem slowing it down. Even at a dangerously low idle. Switched to a 13x 6. Same performance for speed & aerobatics but boy did it make a difference on landing. More air under the wing did the trick. Don't know if this will work with all engines. Worth a try.

Ijust look at the spec sheet for the OS Max 55AX and it say it can turn a 13x6 prop. I will put that on my list for this weekend to try. I would think this plane may fit the sport class pylon racer??

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
I was once the proud owner of the Great Planes "Revolver r/c. aircraft. This model is everthing you could expect from an r/c aircraft in looks. speed and fine aerobatics. Problem? You bet! On the third flight, the entire firewall became seperated from the aircraft. It, wilth the engine, went in one direction and the rest of the aircraft went another. Once recovering the "remains" it was found that the firewall is attached to the fuselage with "hot glue" and NO triangular stock installed to provide reinforcement. Needless to say the aircraft was a total loss along with the radio receiver, a couple of servos and damage to the .46 O.S. engine. In the many attempts to contact Great Planes, for that is whom I was told to contact regarding the problem, extreme frustration was experienced. Finally, realizing I was getting nowhere, it was decided to "just move on". This I did and to this day, even though the "Revolver" is one of my favorite r/c aircraft, I do not now own one. Has anyone out there had similiar problems with either the "Revolver" or the "Extra 300 SP". The Great Planes 300 SP seems to have the same problem with the firewall as does the "Revolver". At least, that has been my experience...........NOMAC1

I would not be afraid of a 14x6 for that engine. Lots more air under the wing for more lift. (I think). Give em both a try. Good luck.

Refer to my post #321. Shows extra 1/2" triangle stock for more support. Also on the inside which is not shown. I do this with every ARF as I have seen many engines leave the fuse without warning. One was a giant using a DA 100. What a mess! Another tip, use some extra CA on all joints. Good insurance. Sometimes you can use Gorilla glue. Tricky but effective. Another tip, coat the entire Mono with Rain X. Good luck on your next model.

lippucci, just curious, what does coating your entire model with rainx do, does it make the oil slide off easier, a shinier appearance, or does it make the plane go faster (just kidding on the go faster)

its not a good move to over prop the 55 ax. this engine does have good torque but also loves to be kept cool and rev out freely, once to start going up in prop sizes the engine rpms start dropping plus the engine gets hotter. i would not go over an 11 inch diameter 2 bladed prop for the Revolver / OS 55 AX combo. stay 11 inch and try higher pitch.

The Rain x leaves a transparent coating on the Mono which makes the Windex or other cleaners easier to remove the oil, grass & sand. Never thought about the speed. Will static tac with & without the Rain X to see if the air moves faster over the model in my wind tunnel. Gotcha!

Lippucci, i dont fly at On top Of the World, I am too young to fly there, being 14 years old. I fly at Ocala Flying Model Club, the website is http://www.ocalaflyingmodelclub.com We are best known by our 600x48 foot runway and the don't fly beyond the poles signs. If you ever want to fly with us, maybe race or something, I could arrange that as soon as i finish mine, as my other friend has one and flies with me out there.

Does anyone know of a trick for taking CA off of Monokote without discoloring it, I am reluctant to put acetone on it as that dulls the finish.

I've finally won an auction for the Bushnell Speed Gun thingy. It'll be here soon. Anyone else clocked their Revolver?

go back through the pages of this thread, there are lots of pages on speed clocked by various people, high 150's was about best by an electric job. I ve done 148 read from my garmin gps located in the fuse. so let's see your speed, but remember only straight and level !

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
I have one of those guns and have used it on my Revolver. You have to get as close as you can to it to get a correct speed reading. It seems that the gun is real narrow. I clocked my Revolver at 123mph.
