Default replace tailwheel on Pulse XT

Has anyone replaced the tailwheel assembly on the Hanger 9 Pulse XT? If so what did you use?

Sullivan. Gives it better ground stance and handling too.

Could anyone provide a pic of your installation? I am trying to figure out if I have to cut the bracket to fit considering the tail bolts on this model. Did you epoxy/glue down?

Thanks so much!

sullivan is also my vote
suprisingly it just bolted in place with spacing of rear bolt and tail of fuse= l just had to file down the sides of the mount a bit for the nut area - as per pic - then just used a small screw at the very back for stability - the mount is suited perfectly to tail shape - no glue - the main bolt/nut holds great
l have just left the tailwheel to freely caster - no real difference on ground handling - but who wants to be on the ground anyways?

(l love this plane - but l also replaced the main wheel axles with proper du-bro axles - the supplied socket head bolts bent on some of the earliest flights)

Mine is almost exactly the same as hetr's. I also had to replace the axles after the second flight.

Tower Hobbies Ultimate tailwheel assembly.

$1.89/ea, I buy them by the dozen... good for .40's up through 1.20's.

would 1 or 2 servo screws be enough to hold the bracket on the rear end? or should I look for larger screws?

if you're using blind nuts i would think 2 would be fine, on opposite ends of course.

I couldn't put the blind nuts in, so i used 4 screws into (ca hardened) wood. Its been ok so far.

EDIT: spelling.

The 2 bolts hold very well indeed. On some planes I needed to mount the tail wheel assembly a bit below the plane to clear the rudder so I make a wood block out of aircraft ply the same shape as the nylon piece. I install the blind nuts and then epoxy the wood piece to the bottom of the fuselage. When the epoxy dries I use a small drill smaller than the blind nuts and drill through the blind nuts into the fuselage so that the bolts can go through without breaking the balsa. Its a bit of work but its worth it. Tip, the Sullivan comes with 2 sizes of springs. Use the larger one for better tail wheel response.

Thanks guys. I went with the sullivan and the larger spring. Used two screws along with the tail feather bolt into ca hardened wood. PERFECT. Thanks again!
