Default s there a fix for a lose Aileron

The Avistar I've been working on with the trim problem has been traced to the shaft coming out from under the wing being loose.
The settings are right but the rod running through the wing moves so far before the aileron moves.
Short of tearing the cover off is there an easy fix for this?

I think you would have to take it apart to see why it has so much play. I guess you could drill some holes above the rod and shoot some epoxy in there, but if it's wearing, it's better to fit a new piece of wood and you'll be happier longer.

Hi Mike,
Well it's not mine and the Guy had it for three months so I don't think TH will replace the wing.
Heres what I found a few minutes ago.
The short rod that comes from under the wing is tight on the rod.But the long rod that runs along,(INSIDE) the aileron seems loose so I think if I drill 3-4 holes and drop in some glue that should take care of it.
On the other wing the aileron is tight.
Thanks for the post

Hi again Mike,
Like I said it's not mine.
I guess i'll see if TH can sell a new wing because it's a lot of work to remove the ailreon, plus replace the hinges. If TH says no then I may drill 1 hole and use the dremel took and drill that rod with a 1/16th bit then sink a screw and blind nut into it since I have all the hardware here.
Thanks for the post

Hi again Mike,
I called Tower Hobbies this morning and they said a wing cost $99.99 for that Avistar.
When I told them that I may have to remove some of the covering along with the aileron to fix it right the Girl had me speak to someone else.
I gave the Guy the full story and told him that it was an internal problem and that when I slid the button up the rod would move half the travel before it started to move the aileron.
Their out of stock on the wing but he said in appx 2 weeks the'll send me out a new wing at no cost.
They don't want the old one back so if I can get this fixed then the owner will have a spare.
Thanks for responding to my plea for help.

WB,

the problem you are having with the airleron torque rod is very common and also very easy to fix. I would bet that the entire repair would take no more the an hour.

BTW Tower Hobbies was pretty "good" about replacing that wing free of charge!!!! Now maybe you understand why people responded they way the did to your Tower bashing threads?
