Any of you guys know where I can find a real nice looking 109? I'm looking for something around 72" wingspan or less. It could be a kit or an arf. I was actually looking to buy a smaller Global and ramming a .42 size engine in it and modifying it for retracts, but dont think it would be worth my time and effort unless I cant find anything else with more detail. And I'd rather modify then spend a forture. 109's seem hard to find, any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Well, unless you want to spend $$$, and I do from time to time, you can always bash a Fourstar 120.
Retracts are a problem, because of the design of the wing, though.

Kondor makes a nice 109-emil version. They cost around 500.00 though. I think they are 72" wingspan. I know where your coming from. i think alot of these arf mfg.s culd make decent off a nice mid-size scale model of luftwaffe bird. They are always way overlooked and were good designs. I had to bash a nitromodels fw-190 to get one.

KMP is redoing theirs to be fully composite. Should be available again by Xmas. I have one and they are really nice. 73.5" wingspan. Mine has the built up wings with fiberglass fuse and tail feathers. The new version will have fiberglass wings as well.
A smaller ME-109 thats also pretty good is the Kyosho Me-109. It has provisions for retracts. I put retracts in mine. Its only 56" ws though. CMP is coming out with one soon, but no release date yet.
VQ has an ME-109 at 61", but, I myself dont like the way it looks. VQ does make a really nice P-40, but the ME-109 they offer is not so great IMO.
1st pic is of my KMP Me-109 in progress.
2nd pic is my Kyosho Me-109

Oh yeah, I love the 109's too. One of my favorite planes. My grandfather was WWII fighter pilot. Was a volunteer for RAF first then flew a P-51 in combat for the states.
He left all pics and footage (reel to reel
to my father. Very rare to have own actual footage from that era as I am sure you all know. It will all be transfered to me when the time comes. ( not to soon please ).
German WWII planes were stellar designs. Almost all German designs were great then and still are today! From weapons to aircraft they did it right. Thank God they had a complete fool medeling in their military affairs named Hitler to mess everything up. That guy has to be the biggest military fool in the history of militarys.
I would buy a nice big quality 109 in a heartbeat if I could actually find one. Unfortunately it has to be an arf for me as I do not have time to scratch build running my own busisness. But I would pay a master builder to do it
If you can't tell the 109 is one of my favorite combat planes. As Gramps said "boy did those boys give us hell in those 109's; Pure Hell"
and "Boy, could they fly to"!
Then he would stare up and gaze.
It is a shame that all that history is about gone forever in person. Not to many left.
Sorry about the ramble on but it seriously saddens me to think of losing all that spoken history. Boys and men are not like they used to be! Most...

Fellers,
I know exactly where your coming from.. Aviation technology has been developed so much because of the germans in that great war. It's to bad the luftwaffe had to fight for nazi propaganda and for a facist madman. There were alot of good men and HIGHLY skilled pilots that were just doing there job. Thats all. Read an interview with the ace of aces Erik Hartman(352 kills). He stated any man flying in his fighter wing that was talking about all the nazi jargon was not allowed in his fighter wing and they were to join the waffen ss. My favorite is also the bf-109. Preferably the gustav models. Heres a pic of my dave platt bf109 g-6. It is currently in for a restoration and repairs. It is done up as Erik Hartmans wingman's plane Gerd Barkhorn's.Also a pic of my modded nitro planes focke wulf 190. Itr has been painted and airbrushed in a jg-4 ricthofen sceme.

Very nice ME-109G. I like both the E and the G models. I dont have the patience for a kit build though so I did the Kyosho, now the KMP ME-109E and then when released, I'll get the CMP ME-109(its supposed to be a G version) unless I feel confident at that time to try a kit(doubtful as I dont have the tools)

Thanks!I am an arf guy myself too. I bought the platt 109 I have in used condition. I flew it a few times now it's in retitrement when I get the time to fix her up. I think the cmp version IF THEY EVER RELEASE IT[&:] is gonna be an f(fredrich) model. Looks alot like a gustav except for the gun blisters and cowl supercharger scoop.

taildragger the bf 109 is definately my favorite of the 109's.
I believe it was Herman Goehring (probably not spelled correctly) who came and seen the spitfire before the war and laughed it off and something along the lines of "that is not a fighter (speaking of the spitfire), the bf 109 is a true fighter" and it was till the spitfire got a supercharger and it's pilots learned to overcome it's inabilities.
Sure could out turn a 109. Is that the case with the model planes as well ?
I have my beater plane, my gasser is on the way. Next I will be building a fleet of WWII fighters and bombers. All flyable at any given time. would like all the fighters to be at least 66" wingspans. Bigger the better.

Spits fly very light on the wing..To me they are one of the most forgiving in the air. On the ground the undercarrage is that of a 109. Love the looks of them too. I know what your saying about getting a warbird fleet. I have a trailer full of aerobats. My only flying warbird a hanger 9 150 p47bit the dust last week. My dave platt bf109 is out of commision till an overhaul. I also have the fw 190 to finish plus a kmp b25!! I need to get off here and get to work!!LOL[X(]

Check out Cermark under Coming Soon. http://www.cermark.com/index.html They show a good-looking 109 with a 65" wingspan.

Hey guys,
I know this thread couple months old but I just realeased a kit for a sport scale ME 109.. It looks good and flies great...
Here is a thread that covers most everything about the plane. It can be powered, Electric Gas or Glow...
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734504
Here are several vids of it flying: pre paint
http://rcuvideos.com/item/VB5DWXLXH47GKCGZ
http://rcuvideos.com/item/NY48T0WVGF8Q3Y88
painted:
http://www.rcuvideos.com/item/DKG43KF1KWTLVDQX
http://www.rcuvideos.com/item/4XN970DJB2970DRT
The prototype was done in electric to show how easily it could be done. It flies great and builds fast with the Epoxy Fiberglass fuse.. I have a complete Build DVD for the kit that is about 5 hours long.
Retracts are available from , Shindin Machine, Sierra and CJM.
