I went to the creek hobbies booth and they are showing a new arf from China Models. They had a Sukhoi, Edge and Extra on display. The Edge looked really nice. The cost at the show was $250 for each bird. The wings are sheeted foam and the rest is balsa/ply.
Did anyone else see them? Has anyone bought or flown one?
Thanks
Erick

I took a good look at them. They have very cheap, thin covering and very poor glue joints. The quality was very poor. I use that old saying they look good from far but far from good. lol Anyway, they look as though they could be built by the same company who builds VMAR aircraft. A guy at the field had one and it was just a disaster. Phil

Where have you been, and what are you flying these days?
I bought a gas and go 33% Edge 540T at the end of last season. I've flown it twice and love it. I did see the arfs at the show. I've tinkered with 3D in all sizes from profile, to the Aeroworks Freedom 3D to the 33%. As much as I wish it weren't true, the bigger planes have it all over the smaller ones. They just stall better which leads to nicer all around maneuvers in the 3D arena.

Bob,
I'm sure the big birds are better flyers but what about the majority of us that can't quite afford those 30+% birds. 25% size is about where my pocket book stops and hangar space. So in your opinion, what are the better airplanes in that size(25%). What companies offer the better ARF or kits in quality and then of course... price?
Till then I shall just dream of flying bigger airplanes.

Toymaker,
Looking for an IMAC type plane? I'll give my vote for the Sig CAP231 ARF. It's relatively inexpensive ($329), can be flown on an MDS148 ($189) and flies great! I miss mine!!!

I have a Hangar 9 Cap 232 25%. Flying it with a S.T.2300 and it flys great, but it could use just a touch more power for 3D stuff. For the money I couldnt resist. Cant build one that cheap with all the hardware. However these planes are little heavy to my liking. Are there any 25% kits out there that could be built lighter or plans for scratch building?

I tried and tried with the smaller stuff but was never satisfied. There were some articles that aren't with me here at work that referenced around 30% being the line of demarcation as far as big performance. I can sympathise with not having or wanting to spend the big dollars. I never wanted to do it. It just doesn't seem fair, but then again the performance was my preference and not everyone is like me. I understand that, but I just had to have what I wanted. I'm a flyer. That's first on my priority list so this is where I ended up. Take care_Bob

Hey Bob, hows it going. When are you going to get up to our field and fly with us? Anyway, right now I am flying a Morris TopCap with an MVVS 40 on it, also a Sig Somethin' Extra with an OS 46, and an Air Flair Stickit IV with an OS 32. In the box I have a Funtana, a 120 size Staudacher, another fun fly kit, and a Texas Hurricane. I am stocked well for a while. LOL. Phil

ZXXMAN,
YOU ARE CORRET. THE ARF'S THAT CREEK HOBBIES HAD AT THE WRAM SHOW ARE MADE BY CHINA MODELS, AND ARE THE SAME
ARF'S THAT ARE SOLD BY GIANT SCALE PLANES.
THEY LOOKED NICE, AND I AM SURE THAT IF YOU GIVE THESE ARF'S A GOOD GOING OVER BEFORE ASSEMBLY YOU CAN CORRECT WHAT HAS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE DISASTER STRIKES. NO FACTORY ASSEMBLED PLANE IS EVER BUILT WELL ENOUGH TO PLEASE US. GO OVER GLUE JOINTS AND YOU SHOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE.
CREEK HAD FOUR ARF'S ON DISPLAY. THE FOURTH WAS AN ITALIAN DESIGN CALLED A KATANA.
FLASHINGRED
