Hello everyone,
I just read the article in FlyRC and what an awesome looking plane. Has anyone flown this planes yet? I have a 3W60 in a plane that is too small for the engine. I was considering getting a Great Planes Giant Areomaster until I went to their web site and read that the Giant Aeromaster has been discontinued . Can anyone tell me more about Cox ARF's since I've never had one? Is the wood of good quality? Is it a well made ARF? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

The Aeromaster has been dis-continued? That would be a shame, I really enjoy mine and looked forward to getting another one if I ever banged mine up too bad. Saw the article on the Pitts also, nice looking plane. But, you really should check out the Aeroworks Pitts. Much better quality for the money than the Cox. Its not available yet but I've seen it and it looks fantastic. Thanks, Jerry.

jbarnes,
Thanks for your input. I hope I am wrong about the Aeromaster too. The 3W60 in that plane would be awesome. Also, I've already looked at the Aeroworks Pitts. Personally I don't like it because the fuselage and front end don't look large enough proportionally to the rest of the plane and the color scheme is too busy IMHO. I've also looked at the Aerotech Pitts which I like, but there is already someone at the club where I fly who has ordered one and I really like the color scheme of the Cox.

I Have One Sitting In Front Of Me Right Now. Putting It Together For Someone Else Though. Very Nice ARF. I'd Plan On An Engine In The Upper End Of The Recommended Range. I Believe A 50cc Would Be Minimal Power For This Plane. This Ones Getting A Brison 4.2 In It. The Manual Reccomends Hitec 5955's All Around But Personally I Think It Would Be Overkill.

F-16WpnsTech ...... Sorry But I Won't Have Time To. He's In A Hurry To Get It Before Bad Weather Sets In And I Still Haven't Learned To Use My Digial Camera Yet. Guess I'm Going To Have To Get My Son To Show Me How To Use It ( Don't You Just Hate Kids Who Can Do That ? ) If It Were My Plane, I'd Do It Though. I Can Post Any Pros And Cons On Here If It Will Help Though. I Was Actually Looking For Information On How The Cox Pitts Were Balancing When I Ran Up On This Thread.

AJF--2,
The Cox Pitts is shown at coxmodels.com under the "Whats New" tab under "Wings ARF's". I also noticed that the 1/5 scale Cox Waco was not on the web site but the 1/6 scale was.

Excellent Quality So Far. Couple Of Little Hick-Ups Though. Have A Quarter Size Hole In One Side Of The Horizontal ( Of Course It's On The Top Side ) And No Straps For The Haigh Tail Wheel. Allen Wrench Really Fits Tight In The 4-40 Bolts. I Have The Same Issue With The Cabane Attachment As The Goldberg Monster Pitts And The 35% Trueworthy Pitts Model 12, You Have To Cut Holes In The Covering To Install The Cabane Bolts. I Built The Trueworthy From A Kit So I Had Covering To Cut Small Dots To Iron Over The Holes. I Really Wish There Was A Small Piece Of Covering To Use To Cover The Holes On These Planes. I'm Assuming That All Model 12 / Python Pitts Have This Same Cabane Attachment. I Hate To Buy 2 Rolls Of Covering ( 1 Red & 1 Black ) Just To Cut Some 1/2" Diameter Dots From.
Other Than That, It's A Really Nice ARF. Bigger Than I Thought It Would Be. Has A Real PRESENCE When It's Setting On The Gear. I Told The Guy I'm Building It For That He Could Get A Roll Of Red AEROKOTE And I Would Recover The Horizontal But I Guess He's Got A New One On The Way So It'll Be About A Week Before I Can Install All Of The Tail Feathers. He Didn't Bring Me Anything But The Plane So I Guess I Wait Now. More Later !!!!

This airplane will come out tail heavy anyway, and at about 19 lbs you would be better off going with a bigger engine to help balance it out and power it properly. The overall quality is good for the most part. The hardware is pretty good but as usual I will use what I prefer. The tailwheel will be the first thing I send to the scrap heap as it seems to be a little bit over engineered. I have to agree on 5955 being overkill, you could get away with alot less servo for the wings and elevator halves although the rudder could always use an extra strong servo. Please remember this is no 3D machine so super fast high power servos probably won't be a huge benefit.
