Default what to get?

I am looking to get into RC Aircarft, and I narrowed it down too these two?

or

They both have good reviews but it seems RTF have been underfire as of late. Issues with quality control and all that.

What do you all think?

i would go for the avistar. once you learn to fly it, you'll be able advance on to some tricks with it because of the semi-symmetrical wing

I second that. Both are good choices; the Avistar has a semi-symmetrical airfoil that will allow a bit higher level of performance after you get past the basic training.

I know this is a little more money than the ready to fly package but please consider buying individual components instead.
If $280 is all the budget can stand then the package deal will get the job done.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXPY56&P=ML $ 100
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKF97&P=0 $ 90
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXKJD8**&P=0 $ 140
Total = $330 vs $280 for the package deal.
This radio has a lot more features, most notably 4 model memory.
The TT46pro engine is much more powerful than the OS40LA and it is well known to be very reliable and easy to operate.
