Any body have any problems with the engine mounting brackets that are supplied with the kit. Never used ,or seen, one like that before. I am planning on using a Saito 180 in it.

No problems mounitng. Although the blind nuts to hold the brackets on to the firewall were kind of a pain. I have never used a sliding bracket that was adjustable like that on such a big engine. Didnt know if i t would hold up to the power or not.

I can feel the pain of the blind nuts with ya buddy. I don't swear very often but it was getting close. How does your 180 fit, are you going to have to cut out the valve covers in the cowl.

Yeah arent they though. Upon trial fitiing it appear that I will have to cut holes in the side for the valve cover as you stated and just out the bottom for the "pitts" muffler. i also equipped it with an on board glo-driver. Got a question though while we are on it. The instructions state that the prop flange on the engine should be at 6 1/4- 6 1/2 inches from the firewall. When I fitted the cowling on without the engine mounted the cowling fit nicely around the fuse and the front of it was about 5 1/2 inches from the firewall is the flange meant to be that far in front of the cowling?

Heads up!! When mounting a Saito 1.5 or 1.8, even when the engine is positioned all the way forward on the engine mounts, the distance that you have left on the top of the fuselage might not be enough to sit the windshield properly, in my particular case, I have 6" from the front of the engine to the firewall, I would go for 6 1/2", my windshield front part just rests under the cowling. To be safe, mount the windshield first (trimmed and all that), then go for the cowling.
To answer the above question, I don't think this mount should be a problem at all for these size engines.
And yes, the side of the cowling has to be relieved for the valve covers, and it is a good idea to have a remote glow driver, I located mine on top of the cowling, screwed to the firewall, then drill a small roundel to fit a glow driver through it.

Just completed the t-craft. Had to cut the holes for valve covers as stated above, and also for factory muffler, which worked quite nicely. When fitting the 180 the prop flange just clears the cowl by a little better than 1/8 inch. I also added a remote glo-driver and fuel recepticle, mounted on either sides of the fuse just behind the cowl. Do have a few other angers with Hanger 9 on this one though. Supports for the tail didn't come with long enough bolts, and they forgot to throw in the over head window.

Thanx for the info Walter D. Never considered the front windshield to be a player in the cowl mounting. Hey Schubox my overhead window came in between two pieces of cardboard i almost mistook it for somekind of packing and threw it out. Maybe thats were your is. I didnt get t check on my tail support bolts yet.
