Default Ultrastick 40 questions

Got an Ultrastick 40 from my sweetie for Xmas and am gettin it ready to fly after I warm up on my Avistar but I am perplexed by the nose heavy set up I have it looks like I will have to do surgery on it to put the battery back far enough to get a good CG. has anybody had this problem? And does naybody have some suggestions on how to fix it without surgery?I am using a ST gs45 engine on it.

easysport:

Do a search on "Ultrastick." There was a very active thread on this plane, telling the weak points to address.

Replace the aluminum ingot of an engine mount with a fiberglass mount, and tuck the engine as close to the firewall as you comfortably can. This got mine much closer to the desired CG.Then again, I don't know if your engine is heavier. I still had to add an ounce to the tail to get to the aft side of the specified range.

Good luck

A similar question that I answered, Look for my posts and pictures to help you out, adding weight is the last thing you want to do. Good luck
