I bought an H9 Solo Sport with attaching H9 floats in mind, the pane went together easily and only needed a little iron work to smooth out some wrinkles, even with the batt and rx just ahead of the servos it is a bit nose heavy with a super tigre gs45 up front. I`m thinking of building a balsa tray above the servos so I can move the CG back a bit. I chopped out a couple sections off the bottom of the fuse to add plwood float gear support, seems to work great.
I didn`t fly it with floats yet, but with the dinky little wheels, I would opt for bigger better wheels. The stock wheels ar maybe 1 3/4" an not very "cool " looking..lol.
I got that Super Tigre broke in a bit and took her to the strip, tuned her up and preped for take off. the plane was a bit squirrly on the ground till in the air, but lemme tell ya that GS 45 and 10x6 MS pulled that thing with authority! full throttle climbs are easily vertical till you get to you 3 mistake height altitude ( that is if you like to fly that way..lol) The plane needed absolutely no trim changes from how I set it up on the ground.
The Solo Sport flies nicely, and has plenty of power with that GS 45 to do things like hammer heads, rolls and flying inverted and others I didn`t try. for an $80 dollar arf trainer I think it`s a steal of a deal, even looks good. When I put the floats on and fly it I`ll report back if there is any interest.
The only problem is I forgot to retighten the bolts for the exhaust on that 45 and lost both of them in flight, luckily the tank pressure tube held on to it till I could land it. Being Sunday yesterday, and today being a holiday here in Alberta, going out and buying some 6/32 bolts is not an option, and not being able to find a couple bolts in my shop, I just spun a couple on the lathe last night and am ready to go today. The weather is gonna be nice here today again and will fly it as soon as it warms up a bit more! Maybe even put the floats on and fly her from the snow!
Thanks,
Ron
