Well, I could not pass it up. I just picked a new ARF from Hobby People. I started watching this model about 4 months ago when it was over $100. Tower still sells it for $109. But Hobby People have got it for $79. You can't pass that up.

I had this plane - not bad for the money... I put a Webra 40 speed in it, which was a little fast too heavy for this plane. The more ideal choice would be something like a Webra 32 or OS 32. Flew well, tho. Spins great.
I just wanted something with a longer wingspan!

I have one, put an os32 sx and a macs pipe on it, run an APC 11/3 prop and it will climb to a dot in the sky. Glass the entire wing joint, and put on some tail wires to strengthen it, and youre home free. I smacked mine in half on a knifeedge spin, and when I rebuilt it, moved the battery to the tail and saved about 4 oz.
Will tumble and snap and spin like the best of them, just needs some recovery altitude.
The only complaints I have about the plane are its need to land a lil fast, and it will high speed stall (which makes for some great tumbles).
Have fun.

I too had one of these planes with a MDS-38 in it. This was one of my all time favorites. It would tumble, spin, etc. like crazy. Unfortunately, during one outing it out tumbled my brain. I will have another one soon.......

I know the feeling about the brain tumbling. I was good for only 4-5 flights on the plane, before my brain, thumbs, and hands were scorched, but what a wild ride. I broke mine in half doing a knifeedge-inverted flat-knifeedge spin when the motor flamed out, but the nose, tail and wing were fine. Used that chance to remove all the plastic from it on the nose, and used basswood stringers, balsa sheeting and moved the battery to the tail. Came out at under 3 3/4lbs after the rebuild. It's hanging up now, due to changing props and cutting the idle trim too low on a windy approach. Motor stalled, gust took it up about 5 feet, and pancaked it on the mains. Tore the gear, gear block, and part of two formers. Could repair it, but I wouldnt feel comfy flying it, because one of the parts that broke was where the wing dowels slide into. Given that planes usual attitude of being thrown around violently in outside manuevers, i could see the wing and fuse parting company in a very fast manner. So its a pretty hanger queen in my garage for the time being. I wish the wing would have been damaged instead of the fuse, because I was going to modify a dazzler wing to fit it, creating a semi-scale/funfly plane, with almost twice the wing area.
I would get another one at that price, but have sold the motor/pipe.

I have an old K&B 35RC bushing engine that's looking for a plane to live in. Anyone think this would be a good match? The sad part is that the engine has no muffler mount. I guess I'd have to strap on a muffler somehow. The JTec mufflers I've seen cost almost as much as the engine did. Sigh...

BGI, you want to do everything in your power to keep this plane at or under 4lbs maximum. If you can do that, then it really shouldnt matter what motor you put in the plane. Be prepared though to either add lead to the tail, or slice into the foam turtledeck to move your battery allllll the way to the back of the fuse.

Love mine!!! I couldn't resist it about two years ago when it went under $100.00. I have an O.S. 32 in mine and that is the perfect combination for the plane as far as weight is concerned. The battery is near the aft wing saddle area double taped to the bottom side of the canopy floor. It will flat spin like crazy on high rate throws that are in the book. Just do a left snap with up elevator. After a couple rotations throw full down elevator and slowly cross the aileron to the right. SSSSlowly. Then throttle up and hang on. It nearly stops it's decent!!!! Knife edge horizontal eights and many other neat maneuvers also. A great arf for the size and money. I will buy another one when this one is gone.
