Jeff that eagle is outa site Bro :rainfro: I may have to start back up on my Byron Originals Eagle. I just need to finish the covering and stuff it. I got a older Saito 260 twin for it. That foam is such a pain, you think you got it ready to cover than....BAM dent it up,fill and sand it again...
Peace out

Thanks for the compliments guys!

xtraflyr,

I know exactly what you mean about that Byro-foam. I built a Byron Ryan STA and those foam wings were a pain. I just ended up glassing them. That foam dents so easily.

Treeseeker.

I'm not quite ready to sell it yet. gotta fly it some more.....

Jeff

I was going to glass them but i thought the wing loading would be excessive.Have you ever flown the B.O. Eagle? Or see one flown?
I'm going off line now see ya next time

Xtraflyr,

Check out Dave McDonald's site about his Eagle; http://mypage.yhti.net/~dmcdnld/christeneagle.htm I've talked with him before so drop him an email and he can fill you in directly about they way his B.O. Eagle flew.

BTW is you use 3/4 or .56 oz glass you won't add all that much weight. It'll be about the same as econokote or oracover. More work to be sure but definitely ding resistant. I did a Combat Models F-16 with it and it added no extra weight. Almost the same size as a B.O. F-16 but at least 4-5lbs less in AUW. I also just finished glassing a small speed 400 electric P-47 and here the weight is very critical. I think I added about an ounce when it was all done. Both are on my web site if you want to take a look.

I'm also in the process of building a Byron C.E. I have one that is covered in Econokote - it is an excellent flier, but it dents all the time.

I put my new one aside, I think I am going to put one layer of fiberglass and epoxy, fill the weave with spackle and cover it with econokote. I really don't want the extra weight of a nice paint finish.

I'm going to be using a Zenoah G-45. My other one has a G-38 and is a little under powered (total weight 15 lbs)

Hey guys, I also have a Byron C.E. thats NIB and could use any tips on building it. I would like to put dual servos on the ailerons and elevator. Also, I put a thin coat of epoxy inside the fuse from the firewall to the L.E. of bottom wing. {Fule proof it} Is that enough?

I looked at a pic of this newest brilliant "giantscaleplanes.com" creation. I guess you don't have to put those stickers on of the "flaming eagle". More power to ya if you do.

Default I've done that before

I've put 1 cent in - usually the post just gets edited or deleted by those who feel its not appropriate for you to see. So from now on I make sure I put two cents in.

Hey Treeseeker,
That seems like that should be fine, with the epoxycoating. No big deal on building it. I'm just going to put one giant scale servo for the ailerons ,elev and rudder(as per inst.)Check out that web page mentioned in this post. It's got a good crash story

Peace out

Hey xtraflyer,
Buc Le (Quakertown) is where i usually fly. Right down the road from (GiantScalePlanes.com) "We put the 'F' in fun" - If i'm off I'd love to come to your fly-in. Same goes for you - I forget when our fly in is but its coming up. I don't think we're that far away.

Johnny Rebel,
Quacker town isn't far at all...Isn't there a warbird meet there also? It took us only like 45min.to get to the Giant Scale Planes shop.(Quite the let down.)The Hielea air park is a beautiful setting. The delaware river isn't to far from the field.Thats not our normal flying field, our field is in Belvidere NJ. I'm VP of the NJJF(North Jersey Jumbo Flyers).Small Club.Less than 30 people.
Find out the date I like to come up...

Hey who the man,
That field sounds great. You can't find that much room in the N.E. Jersey Were lucky we have the field we have. We need strick noise regs. Its a good thing because I can't afford the huge stuff anyway,it kind if stops me from getting anything tooooo BIG.
The guys in our club are pretty old, they don't fly much. The just come up to B.S. and get away from their wives..
I see someone else is starting A new C.E. tread..
