Can you provide more details of your setup?
Weight, severos, CG.
I'm putting a pizazz together and I was planning on putting a Tower .46 on it. From what I've read that won't be enough.
The only other engine I have is a OS .91 Surpass 4-stroke. The engine weighs 26oz with prop and spinner. Wire radio and servos (weighing 13oz) that would bring the plane to 6lbs 3oz.
I'm wonder with all that weight up front, if I can mount the rudder and elevator servos in the tail. How did you do it?

A .46 size plane with a .91 engine in it and you're telling me it hovers at 1/4 throttle? that's not awesome... to me that's expected because actually you're providing a means to control an flying engine that's all!!!!
Now before jumping at my throat, that's what 3D is all about and your fingers better be good to control the beast.
It just tickles my fancy that all over these and other boards, there's a lot of talk 'bout how big an engine fits on a given bird and being impressed at the results.. It's like putting my 220HP SHO engine on an MGA. of course it's gonna haul like a bat out of hell!!!!
By the way, I don't think any of the Morris Hobbies planes are built by World Models. They are however nice planes, a friend has a BalsaNova and is getting the TopCap.
Regards
Patrick

My Pizazz is set up similar to finnz. OS61FX, 13-6, rudder under the stab. I still had to add 3oz to the tail to balance at 4 1/2". More than enough power to pull out of a hover. Almost too much. I have a hard time keeping it from climbing. The Pizazz has been a good tool to improve my flying. I'm still too chicken to hover below 20', but the overall improvement in my skills has been dramatic. I see it more as a mini-Imac trainer rather than a true fun fly. The only flaw I see is poor snap performance. It doesn't stall cleanly. I must have done something right..no flutter even at full speed. Very fun plane to fly, even in high wind.

Pat,
I'm not gonna jump at your throat.. I just think it is awesome because it's not too often that you find a combo that offers that kind of power to weight ratio and you still dont have to add any weight to the tail ect...... The Saito 91 is light compared to other four strokes. I fly the plane very slow (no need to go fast). It sure does feel nice to have something that has the power available without having to go full power just to try to hover..
Another good thing is the 91 sips fuel in this plane because I rarely get to half throttle. I could fly this with a 4oz tank easily...

I have a 91 surpass on my Pizzaz,it does fly well and will hover at almost idle, whoever it was that said it was almost too much engine to hover is probally right.I love this combo, but it is a little heavy, although it will hover,it has a very hard time doing elevators or harriers. The power is awesome because you can hover right off the runway with no fear of trouble beacuse it has sooo much power,i like to pull out of hover into a slow knife edge.reallly kool. But other aspects of 3D do suffer. As I said I do enjoy this plane, defintely one of my most favorites of all time, but think about the weight,i think a Saito 72 of OS .61 may be a better choice,I have the advantage of having friends with a SuDoKhoi,Magic,i have the Pizzaz, and a friend is building the Top Cap,we all fly each others planes,we we all get to enjoy each of them.I use a 14-6 APC on the Pizzaz, and have moved the elevator servos to the tail, and added no weight.I would like to try a 15-6,but don't know if it is available.Good luck.

rcav8,
I did not even have to move the servos to the tail...I just put the battery as far back in the wing as I could.. I like the Saito because it is only weighs a little more than a 46 2 stroke... And yes hover to a SLOW knife edge is cool..
