Hey all,
what do you do with your crashed planes, the ones that you say you will fix but never do? Seeing that I'm at home all summer (no holiday ) I was thinking of buying someones fixable plane and doing it up to fly! Nothing like the 30%'ers just something to keep me busy!

I cut the tails off and put em on the wall of shame. Makes a nice memorial of sad days and happy days too. I will get a pic of my display sometime soon. Just cut em behind the canopy and stick em on the shelf. I mounted one to a piece of plexyglass and stuck it on top of my pick up cab one day at the field. Got a lot of chuckles.

A crash is a disappointment for me. IF the plane is a total loss (wings destroyed and airframe less than 50%), I strip it right away and move on. If it is repairable but extensive, I set it aside for awhile (sometimes quite awhile) until I'm in the mood for the challenge of rebuilding to like new condition. This is most often more challenging than building new, and I need to be in the mood for it. If the damage is minor, I will usually make the repairs right away.
I don't like to throw things away. I do have a Dick Roush 33% Laser 200 in the Bud Light colors that I would pass along to some one "in the mood". She flew nice with a 4.2 Sacks in her day. I flew her for maybe 5 years, then I sold her and the guy spun her to the ground one day. I wound up getting the wreck back. I put a new front clip on her, fixed the wing, but that is as far as I got. It is all fiberglass and I had covered the entire plane with Ultracote. Even the cowl and wheel pants. I don't see getting back to her for some time. Too many projects, and she is a little heavy by todays standards. 96" WS. Come and get her.
