Hey you guys out there with the H9 Aresti what do you think of it? Good manners? What motor are you running? I'm thinking Irvine 53 or Webra 50, do these sound like good choices? Thanks!

Well its a nice looking plane but the landing gear is weak, and i dont like the single wing bolt and also the upside down engine is a pain in the rear, work out them problems and im sure you will be happy!!!

I own one and I really enjoy it.
As far as the single wing bolt I have not yet heard of one coming apart and believe me I put mine through the ringer with those high speed mutiple snap spins ( If this is a concern you can always drill out two holes on the ends and install two, leaving the default without a drilled hole. The engine I am using is the OS 46 FX which pulls it around nicely and since the plane is not really a scale model I saw no reason to keep it scale so I optioned to cut the top of the cawl out and mounted the engine right side up, no hassles of the engine not wanting to run. Landing gear weak? Twister not sure what you mean about that one as I have no problems with mine bending and I have had some rough landings.
I have read in some earlier threads that the tail feathers seem to be weak but I have had no problems with mine there either.

I have been flying one for about a month, with a Saito .72 inverted. Excellent flyer, right engine match, landing gear is solid even after a couple of rough landings. I drilled two new holes for wing mount and used 8/32 bolts - did not want to use nylon bolt after one bad experience on a Sig 231. My only complaint is the cowling is plastic and cracks easily. I ordered a new one from Horizon and will glass the inside for more support. I used pull-pull on the rudder and put a hitec 81S on the firewall for throttle.

Capthis I am surprised that you would want an Aristi after flying a cap or the extra. I just purchased the AW 90 size edge but not until after flying the Aristi. If I understand it correctly the Aristi is almost just like your other 3D planes just a bit more sportier. Have you considered the chipmunk?

Yes I have a goldberg chipmunk about half built, (and have flown several others) this aresti is used and the price is right. I think it will be fairly fast and aerobatic. I doubt it will hover or waterfall and the stuff I normally do but what the heck it looks like fun.
I flew the AW edge a little the other day, the guy had it fairly tail heavy and the elevator was real sensitive. But it sure tracked well, and rolled real axial. I am currently putting together the H9 edge with a saito 180 for power. I just want something cheap and fun!

If the price it too right I can raise it a little!! Man, give you a deal and you get on here and gloat! I am sure you will like the aresti for a few days like all your other planes. Like I can talk huh?
I am trading the aresti to capthis for a balsa nova 40. How do you guys think these two planes compare? I am anxious to fly the balsa nova.

The Arristi flys very true and I really like it - however I fly rather aggressively - ie how low off the ground at high and very low speeds and the neck- right at the wing connection snaps easily - (I did it this afternoon - however after about three hours I am ready to re-cover and go at it again) The Balsa Nova is a much friskier plane and will do just about whatever you want - Also a great plane - i would say it is really a judgement call to your ability - Arristi is nice and smoother while the Nova while can be much more acrobatic and all you want it to be- Thanks mark
PS a Saito 72 is the right engine for the arristi

Hey Blackie...Did you simply mount your engine in the stock mounting holes? Any problems with weight and balance as a result? What sort of vericality does the OS .46 give you? Lastly, do you happen to have a digital photo or two of the final result?
Very Appreciatively,

The engine was mounted in its stock mounting holes and come to think of it it came out nose heavy, I added a tad bit of tail weight and solved the problem. Unfortunately the OS 46 is lacking in the vertical but it could be becuase I have not leaned it out like it should not sure really, but I would have to safely say that the OS FX has no virtical on this plane.
Give me until this afternoon and I will post a pic here.

Blackie,
I am installing an Irvine .53 in mine. My friend also has an OS .46. What's neat is both engines have the same engine mounting configuration and muffler bolt pattern as well. Consequently, we've been able to fairly compare the two engines in the same plane. Although the trusty .46 started easily, idled and transitioned well, the Irvine .53 is a true workhorse that is quite impressive. Like any other American-blooded male in search of more power without the weight penalty of a larger motor, my friend purchased a Jett muffler and I went with the Weston minipipe. The Jett picked up both motors around 1,200 rpm with a 10X6 pipe on 15% Coolpower. It is a fairly loud muffer though. We next tried the Weston minipipe and all I can say is WOW. His picked up 1,500 and mine shot up 1,800 rpm. Both of us we're wearing grins. Now, I'll say one thing. Fuel economy did suffer. Who cares? Anyhow, if you want substantial improvement with your .46 then run, don't walk to the nearest Weston supplier. I think it was about $42 if I remember right.
Thanks for taking the time to send digital photos of your plane.

I just finished my aresti, put in a saito 72 gn in. it came out nose heavy so i moved the battery behind the second to last former. with no added weight it now ballances between 3 3/4 and 3 7/8. I havent maiden flew it yet. I was going to try a 13x7 acp first. does this sound ok? What props are some of you guys using with the 72?
