Does it land better than the R2 model?

I have a MT62, Chinese clone of the G-62 with electronic ignition, and it really likes the Xoar 23A, I haven't tried a B yet.

Love your magazine.

ANY plane lands better than an R2!

Smooth and gentle 3 pointers are great.

I'm not familiar with Xoar props, but Vess 23B is perfect. 7200 RPM on the ground.

I agree. This plane is one of the finest flying plane I've ever owned. Definitely a keeper.

The differences are:

Oracover (UltraCote) covering

True oleo gear with telescoping lower wheel pants

Better servo mounting in fuselage

"Jim" at Pacific Aero cautioned me about cross winds on landing. Due to high stance of the gear, and size of gear, wind can cause flipping over and damage resulting. I haven't read about this problem and am concerned about it. I fly off grass .
Can you give me any feed back regarding landing problems? I would appreciate your response. Thank you........Rich

Since I have not flown the Gee Bee in a cross wind, I have not experienced that problem.

But I have to agree with Jim about the high gear. The wheels are spaced really wide apart which should minimize the problem.

I installed it myself. Easy to do, maybe 15 minutes including timing.

Ralph's ignition goes into the cup mount, CH goes on the front with a separate ignition box.

It needs a 4 cell battery with at least 1000 maH.

I guess that's what you meant by "voltage rating".

Hey Pettit,

I ordered a PA Gee Bee today and a mt 62 and was wondering about the power of that motor. Is it as powerful as the G-62. I usually stick with name brand stuff but thought I would try it. Has anyone done a comparison of the two.

Where did you get the MT62? Haven't seen one for sale in a while. I've read that they perform similar and that parts all interchange.

I run a MT62 in my SD Extra 260. The motor is running great, you got to get the timing set right then it runs great. I run a 23x8 for 3D in a 18 pound plane. If you have any issues or questions on the MT62 you can PM me and I'll help out. Oh, if it comes with the Chinese plug throw the plug away and get a Champion plug CJ-8 in the lawn care section of Ace Hardware, the Chinese plug breaks up at high speed.

I think it would. It is mentioned in the instructions as a light weight alternative to the G-62 and it seems to have about the same power.
