Default Hanger 9 Pulse XT60

Just bought this kit. Anyone out there built one? Engine? Mods? All advice would be appreciated.

I assume you mean ARF not kit? I have one that I love! I fly mine with a Saito 100 swinging an APC 14x8 prop and it is a great looker and even better flyer. Putting the ARF together is pretty straight forward but if I had to say somethings that may give you problems it will be cutting the cowl, take your time and remove material slowly. The wheel pants will not stay straight if you do not have them on right, pay attention here. Some have had trouble with the fuel compartment lid coming off in flight, I have not. There is a huge thread on the plane in this forum ,I would search for it, there are some very good tips in it. Good luck, you have a very nice plane!

Blazer1:

With an 8 pitch prop you should be getting a fair amount of airspeed on that plane.

How does it do at the greater velocity?

I fly my Funtana S90 with that engine using a 16x4W prop and this produces tons of thrust it, however it flies much more slowly.

I've wondered if the Pulse 60 could take the same engine & prop.

To be honest it is not all that fast with the 14x8 and I have thought about trying a 14x10 or 13x9. I run 30% nitro and have no problem turning the 14x8 10,000 rpm on the ground, I am sure it would turn more prop. It does have great vertical with the 14x8.

The Pulse is not a fast flyer anyway though...

If it's turning at 10k with the 14x8 you could easily sacrifice some RPM's to get more pitch speed.

However you SHOULD be hitting about 72mph level flat out and probably 80mph+ in a slight dive which is at the edge of the Pulse's envelope anyway.

That's pretty good.

Most of the time when I am in the air with my Pulse 60 / Satio 100 a friend of mine is up with his Ultra Stick 40/ O.S. 46AX. We have never raced but I am quite certain his Ultra Stick is MUCH faster than my Pulse. I am not complaining I love the way my Pulse flies, but it is not a speed demon.

The .40 stick will be fairly light, and the AX will be spinning around 13K RPM at full throttle.

Assuming your friend is using a 6 pitch prop, then it is quite possible that his will be faster, with an 8 pitch prop it is highly likely.

Your right though the Pulse is not a speed demon. You may get more speed out of it with the prop you are thinking about, but pushing it past 90 MPH is into the "there be dragons here!" territory.

The ailerons are fairly small so these should not be problematic, but the tail may get flutter at those speeds and above.

I bet you out climb him though eh?[8D]

These things, with the Saito 1.00, (14x8) are like rocket ships in a climb

I have one with a Super Tiger .90 and it flies great. With a 13 X 6 (still breaking in) its a pretty fast plane. I didn't change anything other than the landing gear. The gear on mine were soft and would bend on almost every landing. Also, with the rear swept stock gear the plane wanted to nose over on take off. I replaced them with a set of Funtana 40 gear from TNT. The Funtana gear are 1" taller, are rated to 8 lbs. and eliminated the bending and nose over problems. Best $35 you can spend. Here's a link to the TNT gear page http://www.tntlandinggear.com/store/..._List_Gear.htm .
