best way to fuel up

RE: best way to fuel up
I use a hand pump. I like to be able to count how many cranks it takes to fuel, refuel, and defuel my planes.
All of my tanks are in the 4-10 ounce range. Perhaps if I flew 20 ounce tanks I would feel differently.

Definitely hand pump. I've tried electric pumps and had them fail.
I would also avoid the filler valves. Many of them end up leaking fuel or sucking air. Just go with t a fuel dot.
The simpler the system, the less chance for problems.

Thanks to all who responded.
I did make a nice tote box with power panel and the whole 9 yards.
I have both the hand crank and electric pumps.
Now I have to ask.
What the heck is a fuel DOT?
I paged through ther TH catalog here and haven't seen anything called a fuel dot[&o]

I"ve tried just about any fuel pump on the market, and the hand pump is my favorite!
I have a fuel pump that is 7 years old and works just fine. I dont THINK that an electric pump can last that long.

Some mfgs sell the plug with a fitting that goes on the cowl. But it's still just a fitting with a plug for the end of one fuel line. You can put two on the cowl and have one line to deliver fuel and the other for overflow.
(I buy just the plugs. The attached pictures show how to use plugs without the fancy fittings.)

Thank you very much.
I found 6 brass fittings that look like what you have on the hoses.
I don't remember buying them but I have them.

Check out www.pspmfg.com Those are the ones I have always used, and come in several colors to match the plane.

RE: best way to fuel up
fuel dot and electric pump. i use to use a manual pump and count but now i'm much more a R&R flyer so i dont fly till i'm dry. i usually fill 80% of the tank and fly 60% of the tank and drain the fuel everytime to make sure that i'm not cutting it too close. the electric pump has not failed me yet! but i do agree that manual pump gives more control
another great method is this contraption. it goes between your tank and the carb. you remove it to fill the tank, completely avoiding getting fuel into the carb and just put it back when you're done. it also allows the pinch test while keeping a clean cowl.

My question do I remove the hose from the muffler and plug the muffler?
If so then how is the tank vented?
Excuse me for being dumb in this area but I always few the trainers as they came and filled by pulling the hose off the carb
Here is what TH has.

Sullivan electric fuel pump & inline fuel filter (between the tank and the needle valve). I pull the tank line off of the filter and fuel/defuel through that.

Thank you.
It looks like your doing what I have been doing.
Leaving the line on the muffler.
I have an electric pump on the tote box with a touch switch on the power panel so I can just tap and have control over the fill up.
Going to order some T's and fuel line.
Thanks for responding

RE: best way to fuel up
I like electric pumps. It's just a preference.
I never remove the muffler pressure line. The muffler is not very restrictive so I do not think it interferes with venting when fueling or defueling. You can use fuel dots with two line systems or three line systems. I use three lines on my Corsair. Nothing else I own has a cowl so they just get fueled through the carb line.

The online stores have ways to make you spend more, and feel good about it. Offer codes for increasing discounts at certain order totals. Heck, if you spend enough, some of it is "free."
None of us get out alive, so enjoy it while you can.
