It used to be!

Moja je lebdjelica puna jegulja is Croatian for 'My Hovercraft is Full of Eels'!

I would get the VF extra it is an awsome flying plane. I just put my 50th flight on mine this past weekend. I have a 91 TT 4 stroke engime on it and it runs great. This plane is very easy to build and you won't find a better company to deal with. The cowl and belly pan are very tuff and will last a long time. I attached my belly pan to the wing using glue and then I put a small screw in each corner to make sure that it stayed in place. I will have one of these in my hanger for ever. Right now I am thinking about getting the Edge 540 to go along with the extra.

CC Dave,

I once owned the gp 40 size extra, it went to plane haven. dumb thumbed it in, as stated in earier posts, you must back off the throws on the elevator, its too much, and will snap when pulling full pitch. also the belly install is a pain, but workable. i had an os70 4-stroke on it, very nice combo. this is an nice plane, you need to brace the cowl with fibergalss, and the wheel pants will cause problems if your flying off grass.

now i'm planning on getting the vector flight 66" extra, nothing but good reviews and awsome customer service. BUT.....if your heart is set on the gp extra, then it would say you wont be disapointed......

Wow, lots of chatter on selection of an Extra! There are lots of good ones out there, I happen to have the VF versions, but Goldberg and GP and others make good ones.

The GP 40, by the way, flies great on a 46. One of the guys I know built one, and it's very stable, yet aerobatic. Sort of like the Vector Flight offerings.

The VF web page has considerable information, and there are reviews on RCU better than I could write. I just know mine both went together easily and flying is delightful. I sort of overpowered the small one, with a Magnum 80 fourstroke. The larger one, with a ST 90, is just right (with lots & lots of vertical.)

Two friends fly the Goldberg Extra (one has a .91 FX, one has a 120 4stroke), and love 'em. I think they're great. I also have a 46 size Extra from (dare I say) Vmar, and it happens to be one of my two winter planes - small enough to transport assembled, in my SUV, and reliable & good flying. Plus, I don't care if it augurs in tomorrow. After 300+ flights, it deserves some new covering, so I'll probably do that.

Actually, most any Extra is going to fly nice for you. If I was buying my first, knowing what I know now, I'd probably buy a VF 66", and fly it - and maybe build a Goldberg or GP, for the next one.

Good luck & happy flying,
Dave Olson

I have two of the GP extra 300s ( one with OS 91 4-stroke and one with Saito 100 4-stroke)

They fly great and are very responsive. I don't like the ABS cowl and wheel pants, they have a bad cracking tendacy.

I also have both of the Vector Flight Extras (58" and 66")

They also fly quite well and are very stable. The foam wings make these airplanes a little heavier, but still fly great.
The customer service at Vector Flight cannot be beat!!

My suggestion would be for the Vector Flight. It is an easy build and a great flier. I would trash the wheel pants (come in two halves that you will have to assemble) and use some fiberglass pants from hanger 9 (I got a pair for $15) and they look outstanding right out of the box. The material that VF uses for the cowl and belly pan is not ABS and is VERY durable. I wish GP would use that material.

Just my advise for what it's worth

My vote is for the Vector Flight 300S
I flew mine into a tree and only damage was a dink in the LE of the right wing panel.
Fueled em up and flew 10 minutes later.
Best plane by far that I have ever flown. Stable, responsive and forgiving
for a dumb thumber like me. It lands a littles faste that your average trainer
but so what, that's what it does, it streaches your skills a little bit and makes you a better
pilot for it. You fly it down, use the throttle for altitude control and grease it in.
I can't say anything better about this plane. I jjst wished I lived in Canuk land and I would
go work for them.
