RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z
This plane fly's GREAT ! even with very little pulling it along.
This morning we all had trouble with our engine settings , all had to re-tune etc ( something in the air )
& to make matters worse I was trying a different fuel ,all of which nearly ended in disaster.
Think the setting was to rich & fuel quality not the best ,which resulted in the 170 bogging down ending up with an rpm just above idle
& forcing me to make an emergency landing.
As usual a video of the event.

Thanks guys , yeah the wing drag is an issue but I found some plastic insulation tape that is the correct yellow ,(& stretches)
& put some around the wingtips & clear coated it to seal it up ,& it works a treat in protecting the tips.
Will be getting some better fuel in a weeks time which will solve that problem !!.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z
Hello All, Just joined this forum a few days ago and spent that time reviewing all the threads, I was looking for information on how some of the specific details of the Gee Bee were handled and you all have been very helpful. My setup will be Hitec 2.4 with 80 in oz servos, Saito 180 not sure what prop at this time but I tend to use the largest diameter that the engine will swing and make adjustment by opting for different pitch. I am not one for pics but I will try to post some as the project nears completion.

I am going to try an 18x6W APC when I fly mine next time....had an interesting 'situation' last weekend - the right side of the fuse was facing the sun and the wing/fuse plastic fairing pulled away from the fuse! Guess my silicon glue didn't do its job correctly.

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z
Maidened mine to day.
Turnigy 5065- 380kV
turnigy Sentillion HV 100 amp ESC
8s2s 5000 mAH... two 4s 5000 in series
16/10 turnigy "e" wood prop
Came in at 2300 Watts, which is a little more than this motor is rated for, could use a 16/8,
but I use it sparingly and the motor comes down cool. The plane comes in just under
11 pounds, and flys great. Max effort it will take off in about 15-20 feet, and climb like a rocket, but I usually
like to fly it more scale.
The plane flys great with every thing set as per instructions, but I did take a little down thrust out, and keep the rudder
on the high rate for landing.
Used DuBro 4.5" pnumatic tires on stock main gear, and a Ohio Superstar large plane tail wheel ass. (highly recomended).
Carry power all the way in, and adjust your decent with the throttle, and you can grease it right in, no problems.
No pictures or video at this time, sorry. []

WELLLLL, I have everything but the plane!!!!! I wanted to get it by my birthday but that is not looking good since it is Saturday
Here is my setup
Engine: Supertigre 2300 (1.40)
Receiver: JR R790 Scanselect
Servos: JR DS821 (all surfaces)
Battery: 2500mah nicd
Online it says flying weight is 10.6 -11.5 lbs
I like to keep mine planes at or below the lowest number they advertise. So far I have done that with all my planes.
Well I hope to see more of your Gee Bee's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Seagull Gee Bee Z
You will like it, she is a great flying plane and a croud pleaser at the field.
Be sure to take your time setting it up. Set the CG and controle throws as per the instructions, and you will do great.
Use a long straight approch, and use the throttle to adjust your decent, carry power all the way onto the ground wheel it in and she will almost land herself. But once the tail drops she gets a little squirly, if you are flying off grass no problem, if on asphault you might to put a couple of those nylon wing tip skids on the back half of the of the tip for a while.
Nothing has the presence of a GEE BEE at the field.
Have a ball!
