What a good airplane this is. Smooth as silk in the air.

Definately is... makes me look like a good pilot. Also, the CG location can totally change this plane around.
Forward, and its a docile everyday sports flyer...
Back, and this thing hits its prime...
Its about 4-5 mph faster w/the weight in the back; this I later found out that this was due to less drag and weight on the wings, and a bit more on the stabilizer (according to an aerospace engineer) who knew right??? And it becomes an excellent 3d flyer with the weight in the back. This thing is well worth the money!

Hi guys, Here is my dilema... i have a .46AX, .55AX, FS70s-II, and a FS91s-IIP. My question is which one to use in my Extra. I have done the research and it is as such....... .46AX ([email protected] and weighing 17.2oz) the .55AX (1.75hp.@16000rpm-9cc./eng wt.14.3oz. minus silencer weight), FS70s-II ([email protected]/20.4oz.), and the FS91S-IIP ([email protected]/23oz.). I want the best power to weight ratio without compromising weight. I do fly IMAC, 3-D style, sport, and freestyle. In my opinion, I think the .55ax is the best all around choice. even better than a .81FS. But another problem I have is the bhp. compared to the cc. of these engines. Is it better to have more hp or more cc ?!! WILL THE .55AX PULL IT OUT OF A HOVER ????!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering if someone could post some pictures of the .91FS installed, and also how it looks without and with the cowl on. Also, what type of exhaust did you use. I have a pitts inverted for my .91FSIIsP

Hey Raden , I'm running a .82 and this engine is more than enough power for anything the plane can handle. Full power only when in trouble.

The .91 is probably your best choice. I am running a saito .82 with stock muffler and it has a lot of power for sure, can hover and pull out nicely. You mentioned the .55ax, which would be the best route going with a 2 stroke.

You will enjoy this bird.

raden201 -
If you peek at pg. 5 & 6 of this thread you'll see a pics of how I installed my OS 91 FS into the extra. I used all stock parts, no pitts muffler and it worked out just fine. I had to cut a 2" square exhaust 'vent' on the bottom to avoid overheating of the engine but, it all fits just fine with room to spare. Personally, I don't see a need for a pitts as the muffler's going to hang out 'ugly' one way or another. But that's just me....
Cheers!

I'm flying this plane with the 55AX and pitts muffler. No complaints, plenty of power.

not sure who's you want to see.. so heres mine as a starter.

Still waiting for LIPO & BEC, pilot figure and rudder servo... then set the C/G.

As you can see I obsess over organised installs.. so all fuel line and cabling is braid coverd and numbered.

I also used a credit card to open an cooling vent on the underneath of the cowel.. the cut-out was then glued to the inside of the fuse to camoflage the opening a little.

Gents -

Needless to say I'm getting upset reading your dialogues regarding 'maiden' flights and noting where you are all from.Currently it's -9F below with a windchill of -24F below. I seriously need to move.....MN-ota weather blows (and I can say this cause I've lived here 30+ years).

Nuff said. On with the Extra EP conversation....

I guess he's joking that turboprop is "rubbing it in our faces" that he can fly year round. Sure would be nice.

Then again when spring comes around it's that much nicer to finally get out there flying under the warm sun. Should have my gp extra ready by this spring

Yea, 65 degrees and sunny would be nice. I guess thats why California is so crowded.

kq4ra / CloudSkipper / Turboprop130 -

Yes, it was a complete toung-in-cheek comment about Turboprop130's ability to fly year round in great weather (nice pic Turbo - looks like a great place to hit the skies). I mean, who wouldn't like good weather year round in this hobby. I'm just jealous is what it amounts to. Hehehehehe

I am trying to post some pics of my 300, but the files are too large to send. I don't know how to reduce the file size to send them.

The famous weather man is predicting snow here for Thursday, maybe put the skis on the foxbat and go fly.

I need more pictures to inspire me to get my gp extra assembled (I haven't started it yet... arg). Try in MS Paint: Image->Resize/Skew. And make sure to save-as JPeg.
