Default Rambler 45 assembly tips

Just bought my second plane, World Models Rambler 45. Great looking plane with retracts. I am concerned I will have trouble with assembly as the instructions look like they don't give you much guidance. Any posts or tips anywhere anyone knows of? Thanks a bunch for the help!!

The assembly is pretty straight forward. On the elevator pushrod dowel, I used epoxy and thread to hold the wires to the dowel rather than the heat shrink tubing. Not sure if that was necessary but I felt better about it. Otherwise it is a straight forward build and a wonderful flying airplane.

If you run into specific problems, I'd just post on here and try to include pictures.

Thanks Chuck, I'll give it a shot. My first plane was RTF and I did very basic stuff. This looks a bit more difficult, but I believe what you said about the plane. Good looking plane also. I'll be posting more.....thanks.

The plane is more maneuverable than it looks and pretty fast with the right engine. If you are just coming off of a trainer, use the low rates for control throws.

Chuck, or anyone else out there. Couple of questions on my Rambler 45. The screws for the tri horns on the ailerons are about 3 times too long. They would go straight through the aileron. Does that make sense. Also, I am using servos out of another plane. The lead is not long enough and I also don't see a hole on the inside of the wing where the lead enters the fuselage. Do I just get extensions for the servo leads to make it to the fuselage and do I cut a hole? Thanks. I am afraid this is going to be more difficult for me than I thought.

Yes, they should extend through the control surface and thread into the backing plate. If I remember right, the aileron horns include 2 long screws for the front holes that are near the thick aileron LE and one shorter one for the scre in a thinner spot.

Yes, you can just use extensions. Be sure to use heat shrink tubing, string, clips or some other method of securing them so the don't come loose inside the wing.

The exit hole for the wires should be on top of the wing near the root but it is likely covered. Feel the covering until you find the hole then cut the covering away with an X-Acto knife.
