The Alpha 60 is a great trainer in a 60-size.

hhahaha - funny you say that - I had the alpha 60 for a long time and unfortunately crashed it today doing banner towing.
I think it's the best trainer out there

You want a 60-90 size trainer then you should check out the Sig Kadet Senior or the World Models version, I think it is called a Frontier Senior. They are similar planes and great fun if you do not count fun in miles per hour.

If you can find one, the ARF Goldberg Protoge is a great one! No support tho after Great Planes bought Goldberg out.

Definitely would take a 61. A 91 4-stroke works good except you have to be careful about prop clearance. A 61-75 2 stroke would be just fine. Sure a big Kadet type will fly with a 35/40 but why when they are all the more fun with bigger engines. I prefer to have a big engine just loafing along as a little engine screaming it insides out.

I train folks to fly and this is the plane that I use for the trainer. It is large and easy to work on, very sturdy, easy to see, easy to land, and very easy to fly. You can purchase it either as an arf or as a kit (I prefer the arf) from Tower at http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRXH8&P=0 for $149 before any discount. I used an OS 61 FX and cruised at perhaps 1/3 throttle. I highly recommend this plane.

If it flies half as well as its little brother, it'll be the best 60-sized trainer out there.
