I disagree, I've got an OS 91 Surpass II with a Graupner 13,5x8 prop in mine and it has more than enough power!

I haven't weighed mine but I think the weight is pretty decent for a scale warbird. It also "feels" surprisingly light in the air. The YS-.91 powers it excellent. I'd like to experiment with a few props though.

Hey, Mike B.: Would an O.S. 75AX do the job on the front end of this ARF? How much extra weight do you think it'd take to balance correctly? (BTW: I have the GE TF P-47 kit on the shelf but that ARF sure looks NICE!)

Soft landings.

Oh yea, the 75AX will be plenty of power for it! Probably not much extra weight involved, although I had to add several oz of lead even with the 91 surpass.

Thanks, Mike...was just over to the Tower site reading up on this . Decided to do a quick "check-back" for your comments. Guess where I'm headed now ? One more question: how's the Mono...er, covering holding up after your flights? [8D]

Soft landings.

Got 3 more flights on mine yesterday. This is one of those airplanes that just makes you feel comfortable flying. Stable, graceful, predictable, just a pleasure to fly. Now I gotta get the big one. Can't decide on the ARF or building the kit version with a trim scheme that I like a little better.

I have been building my own P-47 ARF, and it looks very solid. I have installed Century Jets custom made retracts on it. I am using a Saito125GK FS engine on it, a bit overpowered but I was thinking doing a bit of Imac Basics with it as well. One problem arises which I wonder ifanyone could help me with. The remaining thing to do is to find amuffler to the engine that does not stick out of the cowling on theside, like the standard Saito muffler will.Does anyone have an idea of what sort of muffler tousewith this engine to avoid the problem ogf having to drill a hole in the side of the cowling and ruin the looks of the airplane?

Look up the turbo muffler in the sale section of RCU and also Macs Products from NorthernCal sells the 90 degree bend , everything is kept in the cowl

Thanks, the Turbo muffler looked just right. I have asked if they have one for the Saito125. There is a lot of stuff out there from SlimLine and others for the Saito's, except it seems, for the 125. I am not sure why this is so.

I just maidened mine this weekend. All I can say is, if you like the way it looks, just wait till you FLY it!

It's Grrrrrate!

That's ashame. I was hoping the ugly color scheme would not be an indication of its performance...

Oh man, I was just reading through this thread since it popped back up and saw my earlier post. I don't know how it got in this thread, I was talking about the UGLY scheme on the giant scale version.

I must not have been paying attention to the thread topic [:@] .

My apologies, I would edit it out, but the option to do so does not seem to want to appear for me.

Hey Chuck. Can you post a picture where you mounted your throttle servo. I also want to install a YS91 but the throttle is on the left side of the plane. Thanks Erik.

Does any one see a need to re-inforce the Landing gear attachment area of the wing. Also, how does the landing gear itself hold up? The gear looks strong enough to me, and I haven't seen anything in my search of the aircraft that indicates that either area is weak. I just received the kit and am trying to avoid any pitfalls I may encounter. I am powering it with a Magnum .91. I already have one in a Tiger .60 and love the engine.

Many thanks
