Try sharpening the 1/4-20 nylon bolt a little in a pencil sharpener. This will help align the bolt.

A friend of mine has one that he crashed into a lake and I had to repair. I too noticed that the wing hold down bolt was a little difficult to install. Patience is the key. It will go it just takes some time.

I have one of these and it does take a bit to get the bolt lined up into
the threaded attachment piece in the fuse. Just wiggle the wing
around from side to side and it will catch, or lift up the back
of the wing, trailing edge and watch the screw as it seats into
position.
