Finally finished the Thunder Tiger Rare Bear. Made all the last adjustments and checks and will make its first flight tomorrow.
I converted mine to electric. -E-Flite outrunner 110
-Castle Ice 100 ESC - BEC disabled
-4 cell 5000mah 30C Lipo (2 in series)
-Arming switch for lipos
-2000mah flight battery
-APC 15 x 13 - 3 blade
-12,400 Static RPM - pulls hard
-Lado retracts
-Robart offset struts
-6 ounces of lead in nose to balance
-AUW = 13.7 lbs.
I was truely worried about the weight but the flight was surprising. Acclerated fast and lifted off in less than 50 feet and then climed almost straight up as I gained altitude for trimming.
Only required a couple cliks of right alieron an 1 click of down elevater then flew like it was on rails. After trimming I made the first flight at about half throttle just to get the feel of the plane (and to allow my knees to stop shaking).
Tested slow flight and found it will drop the right wing if you get too slow but will happlly fly along with a slight nose up attitude and some power held in to maintain a reasonable speed.
Landing next - really nervous now - But to my surprise - No Problem - None -
Short final about 15 ft up pulled off remaing power and it floated to a really nice landing - the plane just doesn't see the weight - Flies just like any other sport plane
And the biggest question of all - no flutter - no tail separation - no landing gear mounting block issues. It seems they have indeed corrected the earlier problems.
I'll try to include a couple of pictures.
