I would go with the Hangar 9. In my opinion it is more scale and looks better
with the scale wing struts and landing gear vs. the great planes.
The G.P. is fabric covered though. I believe they are both about the same price.

I have two Hangar 9 Cubs and I love them both. One is the older 80" wingspan model with a Saito 56 and the other is the Plug and Play 80" version with the Evolution 46. I chose Hangar 9 Cub because of the wing struts and overall apearance. I love the way they fly. I think a 60 2 stroke would be a little much as mine flies fine with the 46. But hey if it fits cool.

Alan, I have heard that The World Models Cubs are of decent quality. They also have a 1/5 scale clipped wing cub that may be perfect for your Evolution 60.

I went with the GP because of the covering ( it is very nice) and I'm not into scale in a hard way. I have a van for transport so the one piece wing was something I prefer. The GP is heavier as well and I put a OS 70SII on mine, the extra weight come's in handy in any wind, she still floats on landings. Nice floats for it as well. Either one would be a good decision.

Gluemaster mentioned the World Models 1/5 scale Cub. I've got one of these with an 82 Saito. The 82 is really more power than it needs, but the extra is there if you need it.
I like the extra scale appearance of the H-9 Cub, but I can't knock the WM Cub at all. Especially the way that it flys.
I hope this helps. Cheers! BH

Is this the same one you bought?

Which color scheme did you go with? I like the blue but it looks like some of the cowling is not painted?.... Maybe it is just the picture.

Alan,
This is the Cub that I have.
http://www.airborne-models.com/html/...p?ProductID=70
It's the full wing version and flies nice.
The Cub in your link is the clipped wing version. A friend had the 1/4 scale clipped wing in the blue scheme. The clipped wing version is a more 'sporty' flyer.
The cowling is painted in blue and white.
Here's a video of my WB Cub at the flying field. I added 4" Dubro 'tundra tires' to mine.

Hey Bounty,
I was told by several guys at my club to always get the bigger engine the spec's recommend. Do you think the .60 will be enough power for it? I like that ARF! I can't watch the video at work (thanks to bluecoat) but I will watch it when I get home.

I don't think that you'll have a shortage of power with the 60. Should be way more than it needs.
General cruising around, I fly just under half throttle with the 84 four stroke.
Cheers! BH

I have the Great Planes Fabric Cub.
I looked at both the Hangar 9 and the GP and went the GP route for a couple reasons.
The GP Cub is beefy, (8.5lb (3860g)) and weighs over 1 lb more than the Hangar 9. @ 6.75–7.5 lb (3–3.4 kg) So depending on what engine you have...a .91 for the GP Cub is not un-realistic. I'm using a OS FS-81a and a 14" prop. The larger propeller works real well on this model.
IMHO the added weight for a Cub is a good thing. The wind doesn't affect it as much as the lighter model.
The Fabric covering is tough and paintable, I peeled the covering back on the wing center section and glassed the center section of the wing. I fly it all the time without struts. (I've never installed them)
I'm using Robart Gear and the fit perfect as well as larger tundra type wheels and a scale type tail wheel (more weight)
The covering on the GP cub goes all the way up the sides of the fuse and covers the window openings. If you check the Tower Hobbies site and check out the spare parts section you can see what I mean.
I installed the windows but if I had to do it all over again I would have just painted them on. I painted the inside of all the plastic windows black using some car body paint.
I also painted half of the fuse using Krylon to make it resemble the "Cub Crafters Carbon Cub SS"...
I guess it all depends on what you want. I like the fact that you can buy replacement parts, I'd like to purchase another wing and clip it, maybe add flaps...
I think the GP and Hangar9 are both good models.

I have the GP Cub. Super flying plane. I have an older OS 61 in it, plenty of power!! THis plane simply looks good. The landing gear is not as scale as I wouldl like. I believe the Hangar nine landing grear is more scale than the GP. The GP also some with foam wheels. I will probably replace them before the next flight. Which the way the weather has been around here, probably will be march before that happens! [&o]
