I just put the finishing touches on my new Airwild Extra 260 and I am very pleased with how it came out!
Final balanced dry weight is 14.0 pounds! with 18 ounces of gas right on the cg it is Light!
some of the weight saving things I did were:
1. I machined my own aluminum engine stand offs with reduced diameter and the exact length needed
2. Wike R/C battery eliminator. just one battery for both the RX and the engine EI.
3. Used a slightly undersized tru-turn aluminum spinner (1/2 inch) saved a little weight, I think it still looks good.
I have worked out 3 different CG settings for it, all i have to do is swap batteries out to change the CG a little bit.
Now all I need is this snow to melt, it has an RCG 50cc engine with the stock muffler. turns a Menz 22X8 right about 7000 RPM.

Sorry, no pics of the standoffs yet.
I have 14 flights on this plane now, I love it! I am currently moving the CG back and I am nearly back to the manufacturers aft most position. I can just move the battery pack to go from a "3D" cg to a "pattern" cg.
I am very pleased with the flight characteristics and weight of this plane, the flat spins are great, knife edge flight is very easy to maintain, no mixes needed. unlimited vertical, pulls out of a hover at 1/4 throttle. Even at my altitude the only way I have been able to hover it was to "pulse" the throttle from idle to just a few clicks of power.
I did have one mishap early on. I didn't get the choke butterfly locked all the way off and during takeoff the engine backfired and bogged down badly, It went off the runway into the rough and damaged the landing gear plate. I made a new one out of good ply and replaced it.
I had one deadstick on my 3rd flight due to a power loss to the ignition module. The engine died while going vertical about 50 feet, a quick stall turn and landing, I am glad it is so light!!
Awesome plane for sure!! Airwild ROCKS!!

I've got two seasons on my AirWild Edge 540. DA50. Vess22B prop. Ifit flies anything like my 540- you'll love it every time you out her up. I've ben eyeing the 260 too. I started flying my Air Wild Giles 300 last summer. 3W 106. What a light flying airplane. I can't wait to get more time on her this summer.
