I finished my rascal.. and i was wondering about glueing the wing halves together, the manual says the joiner can be epoxied
into one wing halve but thats all. Iam not really worried about
space saveing for transport. What about wing integrety ?
Thanks for your thoughts..... B

Default Wing Integrity

I have been flying one of these with a Saito 56 fairly aggresively with no glue. So far no problems. I did not think taking it apart was a big deal either but it is nice to be able to put the plane in a smaller car. I think it will be fine but go ahaed and glue it if it will make you feel better. cbk

Bad Habits:
Runs out of fuel while you are flying it and you are forced to land! This thing is a *****cat.

Well i started the engine today and it ran pretty good,
i think though i should have got just a bit more clearance
on the spinner back plate, pretty much all set to go.
I may take it out to the club and let some of the pro's
give it a once over to be sure its ready for the first flight.
It balanced out perfect and came out of the building process
nice and straight. The .52 has a lot of pull ! i was tooling around the yard with the wing off and boy it gets right along..!
Iam running a 11 6 apc prop. What prop are you running?
What did you mean by *****cat ? thanks.. B

Default rascal....

well i took the rascal for a little spin today. Just running up and down the runway. Very nice experience so far . The rascal
seems ready to fly and it dont take much to get it in the air.
I had a little problem with keeping it straight on takeoff runs
but it may have been me, this is my first taildragger...
I didn't press my luck because it was getting dark but i think it
will be fine tomorrow to go ahead and give it a whirl.. BH

The Rascal is a very good flyer. Just make sure you put some epoxy around the landing gear joints. It don't take much to pop it off if you don't.

I just finished getting the bugs out of my Rascal 40. I have a YS 63 for power. It is like a snake ready to strike! With the YS63 it has no problem doing any manuver except unlimited vertical climbs. However I did have to lower the wing incidence by adding 1/8 of a inch at the back or the fusaladge just below the wing to keep it level with full power. I have a 11 x 6 zinger prop and it has plenty of pull.

Yes it was quite a jump from a LT40. Although it has a YS63 on it also with an 11 x 7 three blde master airscrew prop. I am glad that I had that much power because when I got off the trainer cord I came perty close to landing in a akward position. Just pull up elevator and pour on the power and flew right out of trouble.

I flew my Rascal 40 last week. I have a YS 63 for power. This plane will do knife edge loops. You have to put in full aileron to nullify the coupling affect but the plane will fly knife edge all day long. You can do most aerobatics at 1/4 throttle and I have airbrakes hooked up and it will slow down to a walking pace on landing. My plane weighs 6 lb. 3 oz. on baby scales. I have an 1100 ma battery pack in the plane. I run a 12-8 APC prop and I run 30 % nitro heli fuel. I highly recomend this pland to anyone. I joined my wings together. I have a pick-up truck and the big wing is no problem.

I got some flight time in this evening before it finaly rained.
3 5 minute flights, the palne flew great but iam have trouble with
my engine, it runs fine on the ground but starts running eraticly
in the air, when i pull the throttle down to get ready to land
the engine surges. I tried retunin each time but it did the same thing each time. TODD if you see this HELP>>>!

BH,
It sounds like your engine is lean. Remember, dont tune it till it's peaked on the ground...If you do it will go lean in the air...

That tube lets the crankcase vent. It must be clear....And not restricted.
Your problems could be a number of things. It's hard to tell without being there and hearing it....

i agree, could be a bunch of things causeing it...
the crankcase vent is clear, ive only run almost half
of a gallon of fuel through it, maybe it needs to be run some
more, anyhow i'll get it right..... otherwise the palne flew great!
