I see a lot of yellow in that work shop!! Kind of looks like mine. Mine did not come with a belly cover for the gear so I asked Valley View to tell the manufacturer to make one. I made mine out of block balsa finished and painted. I was worried about exhaust fuel getting in there but yours is gas so it shouldn't be a big deal

Hi there insyt21st !
That's one fine looking plane ! Hey, i'm wondering about that prop and prop hub ?? Tell us about it please. Also, is that a RCV 120 sp lurking in the cowling ?
I have one of the engines lying around and this is one beautiful plane..........Where do I get that COOL hub and prop ???
Thanks, Don

Thanks mrwad. Now you got my ego flowing!!. The prop and hub are from Solo GAP. They arent cheap but I could not resist. They were meant for each other. Mines an 18 in with 16 in of pitch dialed in. The RCV loves this prop and this is the best pitch combination that ive tried. It really tugs it around good. Plenty of reserve power.http://www.soloprops.com/

Another good option if your going with the RCV is the Graupner G-Sonic 16/12 three blade. It has just about the same performance just not quite the nostalgia. You may need it cause there is a wait period for the SOLO Prop but its worth it

Hey all. I finally had a chance to go out and video a flight. As you can see, It is very responsive. I was landing a little hot due to direct cross winds but she is really a floater normally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO5SGtNC1JQ Bob

Bob & all,
This plane happens to be my favorite! I would have one by now but Valley View only had the White & Red and I prefer the yellow, I have written Tom and he will place one on order with his next order from Sechiuan East. I have corresponded with Juan Lin in China and they will sell direct, however, the priceing with EMS shipping, wire transfer would be around $500. I am not in a big hurry to spend a $100 extra. But, if there are others out there who would like one, perhaps let me know or better yet, write to Valley View and with enough orders, Tom could see his way to place a stock order.

Well Bob, I think we both have good taste! A bit too busy for me. My likes would be Orange/Red with Black scallops but I can live with the Yellow scheme. That is a Monoculp but where is it? My guess is a picture from China. This company seems to build alot of the IMAC/Pattern type based on their website. The construction appears to be superb.

Hey John. Jamara in Europe carrys this one. The craftmanship of the Monoculp is easily on par with Aeroworks and so is the hardware. Just not the price I did, however, reinforce the fire wall with epoxy due to the high vibration and torque of the RCV engine. Just to be safe even though its half inch haevy ply. The engineering is almost exclusivly ply wood, well fit, and heavily reinforced where it should be. You would not believe the construction of the wing carry thru. The bridge work is a work of engineering art!!! You can tell that a lot of design and test went into this one.

I CG'd mine at the 128mm/5 inch mark, and had to put 8 ounces of lead under the horizontal stab on mine, using a DLE 20 for an engine. I am doing it over and intend to at least put two elevator servos in the tail of the plane, and possibly the rudder servo also. Anyone else had the plane come out very nose heavy, building it according to the manual. That is of course, if you want to call it a manual. Hahaha Anyone else done this, besides Tom at Valley View?
Thanks!
Thanks!

If anyone is building one of these monoculps, I have learned two things. First of all, if you lift the plane by the wingtips, without the struts, there IS a lot of sag. I would NOT fly this plane without the struts being in place. Secondly, the CG point was unclear to me, according to the manual. I tore my first monoculp up because I measured from the leading edge of the wing, at the fuselage, and the plane actually was way tail heavy this way. This is when it took 8 ounces to balance it, at this point. When I rebuilt the airplane, I put two elevator servos and the rudder servo in the tail. With my batteries right under the the end of the fuel tank, mounted on the floor, with a DLE20 w/17X8 Xoar prop, I have no lead in the plane now, and it flies and lands great. The CG is actually 1/4" in front of the wingtube, at the fuselage. If you're measuring from the leading edge of the wing, at the fuse, it's about 3 3/4" back. The rudder on this plane has a lot of authority. It also has a very slow roll rate, so don't be afraid to put some aileron movement in it!

Hi guys
I have a White/Red Monoculp flying for about 4 months with Satio 120 (15-6 prop). This plane was a hand full the first few flighty. My flying buds thought it was tail heavy. I had added tail weight to meet the manual specification. Took all the tail weight off and the cg now is just approximately 1/2" forward of the wing tube. I also wetn through a radio chance as I was not able to get a Spectrum DX7 to do differential aileron. Changing to a Futaba 2.4 7C which works well with the Spectrum servos. The plane does fly well just require me to pay attention to the rudder.
Would like to get some ideas for hinging the doors. Also I am planning to go gas, most likely with DLE 20.
