Hey everyone.. I am still a fairly new RC pilot and think I got in a little over my head on this project.
After going to the Toledo show a couple of weeks ago:

I decided to buy the Kyosho Spitfire 90..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkNB1ES4qmI
I have a couple questions I hope some of you can shed some light on..
1. What servos would you use for this airplane?
It was suggested to use eitherHS-485HB orHS-645MG servos.. I like Hitec, pretty mainstream durable and wont break the bank.... The 485's saysAircraft up to 72” or up to 12lbs and the spitfire is very close to that.. Also was toldJR S791 retract servo was the way to go for retracts..What do you think?
2. The manual says that a 7 channel transmitter is required for this plane. http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/downloa...structions.pdf. I have a DX6i but am thinking I can use it by adding a y-harness to theaileronservos. What do you think? I am not sure I want to have to upgrade my transmitter for this.. would the y harness be ok? are there other options ?
Thanks in advance..
Pete

I am not actually familiar with JR servos/equipment,
BUT for all the servos except the elevator/rudder one i would use the standard Futaba S3004 ...
For the elevator/rudder i'd go with the Hitec HS-485HB
( http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXXCZ9&P=SM )
Oh and please post us pictures of your progress......please
SPECS: Size: 1.57 x 0.78 x 1.49" (40 x 20 x 38mm)
Weight: 1.59oz (45g)
4.8V 6.0V
Speed: 0.22 sec 0.18 sec
Torque: 66.6 oz-in (4.8 kg-cm) 83.3 oz-in (6.0 kg-cm)
Drivetrain Type: Top ball bearing

Excellent flying model...& i love mine, i fitted a HS-645-MG to the elevator & a HS-75BB for the retract servo...rudder is a JR-NES 591.
On first build i had a Fsa110 OS & found it incredibly light & i needed quite a bit of weight up front to balance.
Recently i shed all the weight & fit a heavier SC120 4-stroke...& with a 90 deg manifold the exhaust is inside the cowl.
Ailerons i'm using 645's too. although Jr591's would be perfectly ok.
It flew great with the OS but i wanted that engine fitted in my H9 f4U.
For the price...it cannot be beaten....flys very scale....& although the retracts are not scale they work perfectly well.

Neo,
about engine choices, could the Spit handle the ASP-180FS? I have one new in the box and I am looking for a plane. The Ky Spit is one of my favorites.

That's a way over-the-top engine for this plane tbh, the OS 110 i had fitted was plenty power..the Sc120 although heavier.../ i shed all the weight on the front end to compensate...is not much more powerful...it is noticable though.
That engine will pull the plane to pieces!!...personally that engine would suit a weightier stronger built ESM model..
Perfect for an ESM Typhoon or even the ESM 82" hurricane.
ESM stuka would be a sane choice for that lump too.....
