Just maidened my Super Skybolt today and it was well on its way to becoming one of my favorites when the wooden mount that hold the cabane brackets let loose and the upper wing removed itself from the plane and she drillled into the ground. I would not be upset or even write this if I'd been haulin the mail or abusing this plane, but I had just pulled the throttle back to idle for final approach. She started to drop speed then the wing left. Upon examination of the wreckage I found the Cabane wood supports had almost no CA on them.I always go through every ARF and glue or reinforce where you can but you really can't get to this area. The plane flew like a dream.Just wondering if any one else had had this misfortune.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Contact the vender you purchased it from and send them some close-up pics and a detailed description of what happened. If they are an upstanding dealer they should compensate you or send you a replacement. Just MHO. Give it a try. Mike (ACF)

Contact Great Planes. They may ask for pictures or pieces of the plane. They are generally really good about standing behind their stuff as when evidence points to a manufacturing problem.

I got the plane from Tower so I know if there's any help to be had it will probably happen from them. I will get another Skybolt either way but it will be a little sweeter if it's free.
