Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I wonder if GP has or will ever think of making a larger version of the sb. one that would accomidate a 30+ Gas engine?
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
That would be pretty cool :D
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Sign me up too! That would be a fun plane!

RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I'm calling dibbs on the review :D
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Figures...[:@]
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I'd take one too.
The skybolt is still the plane i hold the fondest memories of. |
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Seems like that plane is calling for a dle gasser. anything to get away from the slime of glo. Ive been wanting one for years but didnt want to fool with it due to glo fuel.

RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Ever tried electric? Guess what no slime! I just picked up an electrified H-9 Taylorcraft that has vertical performance with over 10 minutes of flight time. The plane weighs at least 20lbs with batteries
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I think it's illegal in some states to put electrics in large bipes
At least, it should be :D |
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I loved my .60 GP Skybolt but sold all slimers. If they make a 30cc size with battery hatch on top I'm buying it,illegal or not.It won't be the first illegal thing I've done:D

RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Isn't the new Waco ARF close enough?
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
ORIGINAL: bigedmustafa Isn't the new Waco ARF close enough? That being said, the Waco is the closest thing I've flown to the SkyBolt in a 30cc size. |

RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
As a reviewer, I use a LOT of electrics and I love them... But I gotta hear noise! (insert grunting sounds here)
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Oh for a 50cc+ sized Super Skybolt!
The existing Skybolt is far too close to a 20-30cc size already so I'd like it bigger than that. With a nice Gas engine ( sorry electric people, yah gotta have smoke and sound on the Skybolt! ) and a smoke pump... Flying Nirvana! |
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Gentlemen,
The last time I looked, PCK offered a 1/4 scale Skybolt kit. If you can trust them or if you can ever get anything out of them, get yourselves one and start building............................LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist. David |
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
PCK? never heard of em.
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Oh yea a 50cc class is exactly what i was thinking.
|
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
You can put me on the list for a large gas Skybolt as well. 50cc would be fine, a 100cc version would really get me going.

Skybolt 20 cc gas sure is fun, the standard kit or arf would not take a 30cc motor, size and prop clearance would be a issue as have to run a 3 blade with the 20cc.
A bigger one would be nice as it was a tight fit for the electronics and would give more room to move things about for COG. But I agree if you cant buy it you can build it. |
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
All this talk about slimers....I love 'em! I just picked up a Super Skybolt at an auction. All setup with servos, an OS 1.08 engine, everything but the RX and battery pack. ALL for a little over $100...just goes to show one man's trash is another man's treasure! GO GLO!

this the NGH GT17 gasser just installed on my GP Super Skybolt. Replacing an OS 91 4s, the plane does have some flights behind it. The GT17 mounted inverted instead of sideways using the same GP 60-120 adjustable mount. Fits well, and a lot neater, engine length is just right (5.8") for the cowl. These pics from break-in, note that I also switched the gear for a bit more prop clearance. The OS was swinging a 14x7 APC, the 14x8 the recommended break-in prop but the NGH looks like it'll handle a 15x7/8 or 16x6 no problem. Haven't flown it quite yet, but expect the plane to be transformed with the 15 or 16" props.

RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I had no idea they made a little engine like that. Im assuming that a small portion sticks through the cowl? do you have a pic with the cowl on? Of course im gonna ask about a dle 20? would it fit woth out too much cowl butchering?

RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
Would love a 30cc Skybolt too.
I enjoy the Bolt I have now with the slimer Saito 100 and 3 blade prop. Considering the H9 Cristian Eagle with a DLE20 |
RE: Larger version of the gp Super Skybolt
I do feel GP needs to sort out problems with some of their existing airplanes though. I had the LG block break off my Reactor 46 thrice in 3 weeks. So much so that I was too fed up (and too busy) to fix it this week and missed Sunday flying
