Ouch. 6 months is maybe OK in the winter, but normally that is too long for me. I may call Fiberglass Specialties as soon as I fly mine. I just want to be sure it out lives my 1st flight. :D. Brian

I have one on order from Sig. Maybe in 6 months or so it will be in.

I cut my cowl just a little to much on the back side of the carb and it looks ok but I'm a little picky so I may be replacing mine this winter as well. Let us know about the Fiberglass Specialties cowl.

Ron,

Thanks for the bolts man. What would I have done without this forum???

Zippi,

i used a 3 1/2" Ultimate style spinner on my Rascal.........it fills up the cowling in the front a little better and to boot, it just looks damn sweeeeet! a few of the other guys in the club have ordered the same spinner i use from Tru-Turn, about $58 bucks from tower. the spinner adapter is around $9 from tower.

RE: Sig Rascal 110

Eric,

Thanks for the info on the spinner. I fired up my G26 today and after it warmed up I opened it up to see what it was taching and I only got about 7400 rpm with the XOAR 18X6 prop. What are you getting out of yours on the 18X6 prop? After a few times of full throttle and ajusting the high end the engine made a funny noise like it was rubbing on something and it shut down. Now when I fire it up it only runs for a few seconds and stops. Not sure what happened. I ran out of daylight so I'll try it again tomorrow.

RE: Sig Rascal 110

Zippi,
not really sure what mine is taching. i would guess that it is turning between 6800 and 7200 with the wood 18 x 6 Zinger.
next time i get it out, i will get a reading on it.

I am using a G-38 from Ralph Cunningham. Bomb bay inside, glider tow, etc.

starts with 1 flip. Plenty of power.

Come to Elizabethtown Ky and fly!

I called Tower for an order of misc items two of which were trans blue and white Aerokote for patching the Rascal. (just in case) (bad I know) :D They are out till Jan. Hope I don't need it. Anyone know of any other covering this stuff matches or where else to get it? Is Aerokote the same as monokote or Ultra Kote with a different name? I'm hoping to test fly tomorrow or Thursday.. Thanks Brian

Brian,

It's a bad omen to be buying covering before you maiden a plane :). I hope all goes well. Let us know how it goes on Thursday. I got my G26 tweaked out today. The best I could get on a new engine with a XOAR 18X6 prop was about 7620 rpm on top end and to be reliable for the first flight the idle is around 2000-2200 rpm. I normally run a 17X6 prop on a 26cc because you get a quicker spool up and a higher rpm on top end. I just thought I would try the 18X6 because it seemed to be the prop of choice for the Rascal. I may be changing back later on. Looks like I'm all set to go for the maiden this weekend if the weather gets better. It's been really windy and cold here for the past 4 days. I don't like cold [:@].

Eric,

The day of your Warbird meet there was a red Monocoupe in the back of a trailer up on the hill by the food stand. Was that the Kangke Monocoupe? The wheel pants looked totally different than the pic's online.

Looks like a lot of nice planes and a lot going on. I don't get to a lot of fly-ins like I use to. I guess I got fat, lazy, and lost the get-up and go I use to have years ago :). My mind say yes but my body says no :D.

Zippi,
if i am not mistaken, it is a Kangke Monocoupe. i can give Chad a call and see if that is it.
will let you know.

I had 3 really nice flights on the Rascal today. Only adjustment needed was 2 clicks of down trim. My-O-My what fun. It flys so smooth. I'm sure no Eric, but I did do some low inverted passes, 4 Point rolls, tailslides with inverted recovery. inside as well as a couple outside loops. man this is "so" nice. Greased a couple landings. (easy with this model) I'm very pleased. The G23 on Ralph's ignition starts on the 1st or second flip and is perfect power for me. I could not 3D if my life depended on it. I'm going back out tomorrow and enjoy this nice ship for the day. Just wanted to thank y'all again for this Rascal thread. Brian Smith

Glad you are enjoying it. Mine is a blast. Next build is a large scale Bi-plane.

Brian,

Nice to hear all went well and your enjoying it. I'll have mine out on Sunday for the first flights. Can't wait to get her in the air :D.

Not yet. I'm also going to buy a 3 1/2" True-Turn spinner as Eric has to fill up the front of the cowl.

I Have a 3.5 inch also but it is a pro-turn I think.

RE: Sig Rascal 110

I was tweaking on the engine a little more today and I'm now getting about 7800 rpm with a good idle around 2100 rpm with the XOAR 18X6 prop. No matter how I adjust the needles it wants to bog down when I advance the throttle to fast but if I don't punch it, it seems to be fine. I either don't have it just right yet or it's just too much prop. I'm running LawnBoy Ashless oil at 32:1.

I went to the swap meet in Nashville yesterday and 3 different people that I don't even know came up to me and told me how I snatched that Rascal right out from under their noses last week. :D. My wife and me got a kick out of that. Some times the early bird does get the worm. Brian
