That's like trading in my Prius on a Model-T. Or retiring in Florida and moving to Minnesota. However, for those of you who insist, I have a bunch of glow engines for sale...cheap!

Agreed. It would be nice to have such a forum. I just converted a Quique Yak to run with a .32 SX. I can fly all day and only have to stop to fuel. The plane weighs 54oz RTF. The electric version is about 52oz RTF. Ran mine tonight and it hovers at 1/3 throttle with a very hard full throttle accelerate.:D

How are you fuel proofing the inside of the fuse? That thing is going to be pretty saturated with oil after a few flights.

It will? Hmmmm. After flying the hell out of this plane all summer long, there is not one drop of fuel in it. It is very clean. Here is a link to the build thread and the video of the maiden is in there too
Quique himself was very pleased with the results. So has been the XFC flier, who has the electric version of this plane. He stated that it flew better than the electric version. Listen to the video, its all in there.
I just bought the last two of 49" planes from Quique last week. Gave one to my boss who had to have one after flying it and I am going to make another one. I am going to fly it tommorrow for our annual numb thumb fly in. Again. Like stated earlier I put many gallons of fuel though it so far, and it is WAY BETTER THAN THE ELECTRIC VERSION!!! I can fuel, fly, fuel, fuel, fly, fuel, fly. All before you pack is done charging.:) Unless you wasted hundreds of dollars on batteries.[:'(] But still, I can litterally fly as long as the day is.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6599297/tm.htm Enjoy the thread and poor video. I had to get it on film asap. the plane is just too much fun.

Its about time we have a ELECTRIC to GLOW Conversion Forum! Now that we have many nice lite flying ARF airplanes, we can enjoy a super fun experience. Flying a lite airplane with a small good on fuel Glow engine. I helped my Grandson convert a Electric Fun Fly 50 to Glow power and it is a super fun airplane to fly. Capt,n;)

Here's a functional 25E that needs the firewall filled and would be a excellent 25 2 stroke plane or maybe 30 four stroke

and here's another but it is not so cost effective anymore after Horizon got to feeling sorry for themselves

I did an E to glow conversion on an E-Flight Mini Edge. It flies great and has plenty of power. I didn't even have to add any ballast weight. I merely put the battery pack as far back in the fuselage as possible. It is a blast to fly. Here is a couple of pics. Motor is a Saito .30. That's right. 4 STROKE!! I would like to convert one of these, but have to many projects now.

I think it's a great idea also.

Here is a Parkzone Trojan converted to a Nelson 25 by one of our club members.

If you ask the original question of an electric flyer, you get the same reaction that you get when you ask a Volvo driver for a smoke.

What would be a glow equivilent to a eflite 480?

The Parkzone Trojan is considered a 480 size electric, and like my video post showed above, it had a Nelson .25. One of our club members converted an eflite miniPulse XT 480 size to a 0.10 with nice success. I think power wise a 480 outrunner is closer to a 0.10 engine.

Thanks I was wondering because I have an AP Engines .15 sitting around that I wanted to put in my Eflite extra 260 or my mini ultra stick.

RE: Where is the Electric-to-Glow Conversion Forum???

I also agree with creating a new forum. I converted an E-Flite Pawnee to glow with a .25 on the front for a customer. It was not a hard job, just had to modify the firewall with two support beams to become the motor mount. A regular motor mount would have been too short. The guy said it flew great. The E-FLite Beaver would be a great candidate for a .25 to .30.

I have 3 Saito 30's just waiting for a Eflite or E25 conversion to glow

RE: Where is the Electric-to-Glow Conversion Forum???

Kostas - I did not take any pics (stupid me). But anyone with a little bit of repair experiance could do it. I did it last year, but some of the things I did was build a new firewall out of lite ply and made sure that the engine mount beams extended into the fuse to get some extra bite for the beam. The new firewall was epoxied onto the orginial firewall with 30 minute epoxy.I reinforced the original firewall with triangle stock on the inside of the fuse and then fuelproofed everything. It was a bit of overbuild, but it performed as designed.

How about some of these w8ye? There are plenty of them out there. Choosing one is the hard part. I would highly recommend converting one though. It is quite fun. Especially with a Saito .30!

Looking at those pictures made me pick up one of the 30's and flip the prop around a couple times

You should give it a try. I really like the looks of the 2 seat ultimate. That one looks really scale for a parkflyer.
