RE: New KMP PC-21
the spinner is a dave brown 4 1/2 standard spinner.
the main wheels are 3 1/2,nose wheel is 3 firewall to end of the cowl is around 6 1/2. i hope that helps |

RE: New KMP PC-21
Well, I guess now its just a matter of waiting until some more of these are in stock? Anyone with experience with one of the PC-21s that has not posted, lets get'em to give us some info. I am particularly interested in what gas engine to use........Thanks WC
|
RE: New KMP PC-21
thanks for the info. I think the Saito "36 gas will fit ok" . from the picutes it looks like a 4.5 is a little small perhaps a 5" would be better ? thanks again for the reply.. waiting for mine to arrive ..

RE: New KMP PC-21
If the firewall on this plane is large enough and strong enough to cut out enough firewall for a rear mounted carb engine....then a ZDZ 40 with rear exhaust might be really cool......you could use a tuned pipe going out the bottom or you might be able to mount the engine upright and use the actual fake exhausts by hooking up 2 pipes into a Y....the engine choice on this plane is really interesting for both sound and power. RE: New KMP PC-21
- ready to get a power plant for my pc 21.
hoping the 180 saito would fit w/o cutting. dose fine on power, whats the elevation your at in the you tube vidio? Im at 7000 '. questian on the e-flight 160 option: I think the Axi motor (higher rpms) with a Castle esc and 44.4v-12 cell lipo would work just fine. also the old OS 160 fits with no cutting with a bisson muffler 3.7 hp 37.5 oz w/m but a fule hog & may requier a bigger tank for 12minut + flights. the Big Axi motor will hull 15kg planes may be my best option as the altitude kills modles engine power (example: most of the guys that fly up here almost dubble the power recomended so a 15Lb 35cc yak would need 50cc for unlimeted performance) |

I am very interested in buying this airplane and researching engine options. I would like to use the FG-36 gasser also. The mounting dimensions are shown in the photo. Firewall to drive is 7.08" and centerline of crankshaft to top of head is 5.07". I think one post stated airplane dimensions are 6.5" firewall to front cowl, so I am not sure if the motor will fit unless some firewall modifications were made or cowl lengthend?
For all that have the airplane already, how is the quality of the ARF and gear? I would also like to put brakes on the plane and reconfirm the main gear tire assembly diameter please. Thanks for any inputs. |
RE: New KMP PC-21
Another engine choice that might works would be the Saito 182 twin for glow. That engine is 7.6" wide 3.8" crankshaft centerline to side of cylinder head.

RE: New KMP PC-21
I think this motor from RC Showcase might work well for the PC-21 and think it will fit good also. The RV26 is priced very well and from what I have heard a very good motor.
http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/RCS/rcs26sv.html Has there been and info if Sierra will make a upgraded gear for it? Take care. Jason |
RE: New KMP PC-21
Jason
id like to first hear how wide the cowl is before I would commit to a gasser |
RE: New KMP PC-21
sunshyne,
I agree with you and would like to know that info also. The nice part about the RCS RV26 is the rear mount carb and the length is very close to measurment already stated at 6.5". I have just put mine on backorder at Chief Aircraft, hopefully I will get one in the next batch due in early March. Take care. Jason |

Very nice i must say.
does anyone know a store that has them in europe? |
RE: New KMP PC-21
Hi, I am thinking of making a larger PC-21 and I would appreciate help as to whether: 1. your kits have any negative incidence on the elevator stab (leading edge pointing downwards) if so how much? 2. what the engine incidence was (if any) on your aircraft and whether this has any starboard side thrust too 3. and what the wing incidence was I am mentioning this because the scale drawings which I got provides a bit of head scratching since the engine has 4 degrees negative incidence and 3.5 degrees side thrust. The elevator stab was 1.5 degress negative too. Wing incidence I calculated as being 2.5 degrees positive. Wonder what your planes have. Any help will be appreciated . With thanks Reuben |

Thanks kinverflyer. However, the plane I wanted to make is of a larger dimensions that the one being sold. Around 100" length.
Thanks again. Reuben |
RE: New KMP PC-21
ORIGINAL: serge760 here is the maiden flight with some problems, the engine is a siato 180, needs a perry pump, fuel tank is way too far back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZQ8G...e=channel_page i will use a SAITO 200 ti and my friend a SAITO180 so i like to know if we realy need this pump or if we can move the tank? thx g |
RE: New KMP PC-21
This is a really impressive aircraft, but it badly needs the scale spinner. Does anyone know if it's available yet. Even an ultimate spinner will not do this plane justice. I've been advised this kit will not be available until early April here in Australia!
Patience is not my virtue! |
RE: New KMP PC-21
made a little progress today on my birds ( working on 4 aircraft for the spring - modleports are under 2' of snow LOL), im probably going with the evo40 just waiting
to see has anyone flown a pc 21 with this combo. the ZDZ40cc fla @2.5# & 4.2 hp is probly the best power for her- just soooooo expendsive, but im tierd of ele's and glows. dose anyone know how much hp or thrust a evo40cc makes? my only other gas optoin could be a DA or DL 50cc shoehornded in with massive cowl cutting - and possibly grownd strike issues, but power is needed at high altitude - I have a fleet of underpowered aircarft and nothing is more unsatifying and nervracking than an underpowered plane with high wing loading ARRGG!!! I went with 7955 high techs 333 oz/(I think thats the rite #) for the pull pull systems in the tail and jr126's in the wings and front gear. throttle is a highspeed Ht - so far im useing 2 lipo rx batteries with powersafe 9100 jr reciever. how hard is it to conect the retract air system - to wings at the field and will the conection last w/o leaking????? |
RE: New KMP PC-21
Seanregan
I think you are way over powering this airplane. I think that is too much power for this airframe. It only weights 15lbs. That's my 2 cents worth. Walt |
RE: New KMP PC-21
I don't think he is overpowering it at all, check out the videos of the Saito 180 version. That is certainly not overpowered, and operating at density altitudes of over 7000 feet, he will need the power.
Remember you don't have to use it, thats what the throttle stick is for. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it! Please guys stop powering this model with four strokes, it sounds completely wrong. Its a high speed turbine powered aircraft, not a Stearman. If you don't believe me check out a video of the full size aircraft, then watch the Saito powered video. My tip for cheap, light, reliable power is the Moki 180 or 210 with an inverted pitts muffler. They are an awesome engine (i have two). Height from centreline to top of head is 110mm, 3mm shorter than the Saito 180. What spinners are available that look scale, any ideas? |
RE: New KMP PC-21
spinner that look scale is hard since its a 5 prop but maybe a nice bolly 4blade they are narrow anouth to look good
ok this i swhat you need if you can found the proper size !! : http://www.bolly.com.au/images/BOS2-5B.GIF |
