Awesome, thanks.
One last question...Would fabric covering get too heavy on a smaller model like this if I did decide to go the re-covering route?

Lifer 10-21-2015 02:03 PM

It would add a pound and a half or more, but the AT-6 was a metal airplane. The only fabric covering on it were the control surfaces.

I always recommend that someone interested in any model go look at some Youtube videos first. Might be a good idea!

Love2FlyMN 10-21-2015 02:58 PM

I would be interested only because of how long the fabric holds up compared to iron on stuff

Hi Tom:
do you still supply the retract reinforcement?

thanks

I still supply the retract boxes for the AT-6 at $39.00 shipped. Send me an email to: [email protected] to order.

Love2FlyMN 10-28-2015 12:08 PM

Tom, are these only compatible with the Top Flite version? Do you have a picture of them? Or are they back in this thread a ways?

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2128060These boxes will fit any of the TopFlite Warbirds like the AT-6, P-51 or P-47. Or any plane that has the same size retract box. There have been some pilots install the Robarts in these boxes. The boxes were designed to keep the nylon boxes from breaking when the plane bounces on landing and destroying the wings.

Hope this helps.

What gauge and material are the retract boxes made of? Thanks. Bill at MINI30BOB

TomTreese 11-30-2015 04:17 AM

The are made of Aluminum. The thickness allows them to fit in the retract slot in the wing.

I got my T-6 from a gent getting out of the hobby. Money exchanged hands but it was still a steal. I plane to get a pair of the reinforcement blocks from Mr. Treese if still available, my question is has Top Flite done anything to improve the strut wires. maybe I should contact them

Cougar429 11-13-2016 05:43 PM

I have both the kit and ARF. Both used the same wires and suffer the same geometry and bending. Oddly enough, the ones from Robart were worse.

RadioPhlyer 11-13-2016 05:44 PM

I believe Tom can still supply the blocks. I just got a set of wire legs for these retracts from Tower and ordered another set of landing gear from Tower also they had been out of stock for a while. So all the stock tower has from top flite is new. Now did they change anything I don't know. My guess is no. But I knew what I was buying when I purchased.

I do not think that they have changed the retract system or wires on this model.
I can still make the reinforcement boxes, which are necessary for this plane.
They are still $39.00 shipped in the USA.

Sorry for the bump

I would like to know if Tom Treese still building and selling the retract supports.

If so, I would like to know how to purchase.

Are there other options besides new retracts for the Kyosho AT6 as I am new and would like to MOD if necessary to prevent wing damage

To Mr. Treese

My model is a Kyosho AT6 Texan in .40 scale

Oh, and my apologies for restarting this old thread. I am just new to the hobby and excited to get my bird set up correctly.

I no longer make the AT6 retract boxes.

Lifer 03-19-2024 07:50 AM

I have a set that are gently used that I no longer need.
