I'd cover it with Ultracote. Solartex or Coverite fabric breathes too much! You're going need a Allison on that thing to get it airborne! :D Your ambitious in the cold. My hats off to you. My man cave is a 30x60 garage. I was fortunate when I bought the land for my house that the garage was on the property. I added a oil fired hot air funace the size of a Toyota Corolla. It stays nice and warm. Thank god oil has gone way down. Got a lot of the ceiling full of planes. My wife hates the place, says I should live there! My ride is a 08' Harley Road King but my favorite ride is still my wife!:D Especially when her motor runs.[X(]

Whatever size you build, it won't be big enough! :)

My man cave is 12x14. It sure seemed roomy and spacious when I finished it, and before I moved anything in. It filled up fast! [X(]

Some of you guys have way too much creative juice!!!!! And the money to make it all happen...
My airplanes share a 28x30' garage with our Harleys and a Honda Rubicon ATV. The ceiling is my hangar parking space and the workbench has always got a project on it. I actually enjoy building more than flying (at least when the temps are in the -40f range). Thank God there is a 75,000BTU radiant heater in my little piece of heaven. I recently upgraded the flourescent lighting and you have to wear welders' goggles when they are all on...

I agree with you on the -40 degree weather, its no fun to be out in that crap. Haha. Well I dont know if were gonna continue with the building today...Vikings are playing! Plus one of our cars right rear wheel locked up....gotta figure that out too...

My highschool gym teacher got his degree from Mayville College. How are you planning to keep it warm for building? I couldn't even afford the costs to heat the garage at this time of year. I need something that size first to store the lawn mower, garden tools, bikes and snow blower. Right now I have some kits stored in the garage (insulated) for future builds.

It will be insulated, a wall mounted propane heater will be installed, not sure of btu rating but it will be enough to make it nice and cozy inside. We also have a couple small kerosene heaters to use until we do get the propane heater.

It's never big enough. My dad told me, when i built mine, that i should go bigger. Now i wish i would of.

Mine is 14x16, insulated, window air, and an electric oil heater. Works just fine for me in the cold, plus i have a dog door on it for the guard dog! It keeps him nice and toasty in the winter.

And the 5x10 enclosed trailer next to the shed, i picked up for $1500, just to store my dirtbikes and Harley in the winter. I figured if i was going to build another shed, i might as well just get one with wheels on it! lol

I have a 20x 20 slab in my backyard to build on which is ok if I stay with 40 size ships. But if I start giant scale stuff, there goes the room.

Here are some pics of my cave. It seems funny most of us also have harleys and dirt bikes too.:) I, like others share my building space with most my other toys and projects. My plane bench is 3'x10' and masonite covered over butcher block maple, super solid and straight. I also have a 3'x10' general workbench made from a old butchers' cutting table. It is 4" thick laminated maple block. 3rd picture shows my oil fired hot air furnace. It heats the whole garage to 65 degrees in about 15 minutes. Worse thing is, this time of year the garage get cluttered up and not picked up enough.

Well mine mine not be the best, but it's definitely a cave! And for being in college and only one summer into the hobby, I am pretty good shape. It's winter break and I've been stuck in this 'cave' for a week now. It's so small I had to climb in the closet to take the pics! Anyone who knows me can now see why I'm limited to 120 size planes! I absolutely love it in here:D

Druff1....is that a Chesapeake Bay Retriever in one of your pictures?? I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

yes that is a Chesey. He's about 7 years old now and weights 120lbs. Very strong and still thinks he's a pup. He let's me know when anyone gets close to the yard! lol

I've got a chessy as well. They're unmistakeable. Absolutely beautiful dogs. Mine is SOO loyal, and rediculously smart. Bound to be the sweetest dog I've ever met. He's very tender and careful around my planes, but if I crank up my car he HAS to chase. He can't NOT chase it. He's such a good dog though, I've literally taken food out of his mouth and he hasn't so much as started to growl. He's very protective of his home turf. If we're outside, he can deal with strangers (as long as they're not aggressive towards us)....but I pity the stranger that tries to come in our house without us being outside. He's great with kids...we have a picture of an 18month old child taking the tennis ball out of his mouth (he's become REALLY attached to his tennis balls) and then he played fetch with him for 30 min's. Never knocked him over. He also licks his mouth before he drools, and won't come inside or get in a car unless directly told to. He's about to be 10, I think. He looks a lot like yours. He's at about 120lbs as well. They're great dogs, aren't they?

We live on a golf course. The only time he ever leaves home is during the summer to go to the water hazards. We've caught him swimming in frozen-over water hazards before....but that was when he was 1 and 2. Hasn't done it since he's gotten old.

No, no progress today...I had school today...plus it was about -20 here, plus wind chill. It was freezing. With my school, and dad working, we might not get any done till friday...and the weekend. I have a date friday ;) so dad might be on his own then. Its an easy build, but slow going when you only have the weekends.

Here is a pic of my dog. She is a 100lb American Bulldog and as you can see she does not play with tennis balls. She plays with basket balls. She will puncture one with just one bite so my boys have to keep thier good ones hidden from her. She does not like anything started up around her, like a riding mower. She punctured the front tire on mine once when I started it up before she was in the house, she is very protective and and acts like she is a lap dog.

Nope, not kidding. I have been riding dirtbikes, streetbikes, three wheelers and fourwheelers since I was 7 years old, so in 28 years I have never owned a helmet. I know, I have heard all about head trauma and seen it first hand but if the good Lord is ready for me then a helmet is not going to help me. Out of all of the things I have owned in the past this Raptor 700 has got to be the meanest, baddest, scariest of all of them. Especially with the mods I have done to it. As long as it has traction it will try to bring the front up through 5th. My brother weighs a whopping 260lbs and I clocked him at 82mph on it and he said he did not even have it topped out. That was in a new chevy truck with an accurate speedometer on the highway.
