You can buy them like that from Dubro as well.
Do you happen to know the Dubro product number? I'd like to try some.

2-56 ball link for 4-40 rod is Dubro part# 2139. Pkg of two links with hardware. (no rod)

Got the engine mounted and the linkages sorted out, including the choke rod.I decided to just make the choke rod like I have done the rest of them since I had a cowl with a vent opening that I can use.
I made the choke rod out of 2-56 rod and drilled the yellow inner part of the nirod so I can slip it over the 2-56 rod. Then I used the blue casing as a guide for the rod to run through. I made the aluminum bracket from some flat stock that I bought at the Hardware Store. I used some medium CA and execrator to glue the nirod in place.

I also mounted the rudder servo. Tim from Redwing RC donated two of these servo to the Fly In we had this Summer for door prizes. My son won one of them. He gave it to me since I needed another servo to finish this plane. So I thought I'd try it and see how it works.

Now I can go on to building the plane.

Hi

Thats what I call useing the KISS system , and , it looks like it won,t let you down . Like I,ve mentioned , I like the indent system , it,s simple .

The assembly looking good [sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]

RE: Redwing 30cc Sbach Build

Thanks Michel. This is the spring choke not the indent. You still have to use the throttle servo to set it. It is easy to get to and all you have to do is push on the rod to set it. Of course it releases by moving the throttle stick on the transmitter.

Thanks Guys.

Someone wanted to see how to pin the firewall. There is more then one way but this is the way I like to do it.

I use the thick toothpicks. Sand down the tip of the toothpick about 1/2 way on the taper. Leave some of the taper on there to help push the epoxy down in the hole. I put 3 pins in on each side with 5 minute epoxy. On larger planes You may want to use more pins and 30 min. epoxy. I set the drill bit in the drill chuck to sit out about 3/4 of an inch and drilled in till the chuck touched the wood. That way I drill the same depth every time.
Once the epoxy dries I cut the excess of with side cutters and sand them flat.

I didn't get much done today. Just finished the pins in the firewall and fuel proofed the engine compartment and the wing saddle.
Just waiting for epoxy to dry.

Tom, I received mine today and went ahead and installed the Syssa 30.

I did some quick measurements and decided to use the supplied template. I must say it turned out absolutely excellent. For those of you wondering the template is bang on.

Also noticed that the fit of all the formers, firewall, engine box etc., etc. is really really good on these planes. Likely the best I've seen and better than a couple of the most favorite ARF's out there. Also noticed that the plane and surfaces have actually been sanded. Nice touch...I must say I'm really pleased...Keep up the good work Tim

This thing is gonna rock....
Hopefully more tomorrow along with some pics.

Jack

LOL..Yup it is a bit odd, but it's much easier to get at the throttle linkage and such.

I'm having a real hard time finding time to work on this plane. I managed to mount the engine back on and that's it.
Tomorrow is flying day so not much will get done again. I'll try to do something while I'm charging batteries.

That looks great Jack.

Have you got the spinner clearance set yet? If you do then it looks like you have lots of clearance for the Syssa Head.

Oh yeah!  Sorry Jack, just looking at the photos and thought it was Tom.  Didn't realize you started on yours too!  :)

Spinner clearance is set. the Syssa cylinder is a perfect fit.

Was just messin' with the throttle linkage and it's going to be a quick simple install as well. Then I'll mount the ignition and after that I'll put the gear on.

Ok, since you extended the invitation.

Went thru mine last night for a dry fit check and some very close inspection. I really liked everything that Tim has done. The tab-slot construction is awesome (typical of Goldwing), and the hardware is very well made. Most impressive IMO is Tim's personal touches on small details such as the aluminum angles on the landing gear, cowl ring to hide screws, the can tunnel, the triangular hardwood stocks to strengthen the engine box, vertical-grain balsa sticks over rib cutouts, etc. structural details that are extra beyond a Goldwing's design. Made me wonder if Tim modified the CAD model? At any rate, great job and kudos to Tim Pastor. As they say, the devil is in the details.

Did find some small items (1)the tailwheel arm did not have a hole for the collar screw to go thru (2)holes for wheel axles are undersize in the landing gear (3)screws for the tail wheel bracket is a bit tiny. These are no big deal to correct.

I hope more people will recognize that Tim's planes are among the best bang for the buck on the market. I have owned and flown quite a few makes and models ranging from Aeroworks, Great Planes, TOC, Pilot RC, Wildhare, etc.
