Default Making a power supply - a little help

So ive been doing some reading on how to make a power supply for a charger using a PC PS. I came across something that mentioned using a regulated switching power supply as shown in the link below would only require wiring to the charger and thats it. Did I read this wrong; is this the case? If so, How exactly would I wire the regulated switching power supply in order to power my charger? Any help would be appreciated as Im just trying to understand all of this. Thanks

These types of power supplies are easy to wire for use and require no modification. Personally I get my power supplies from Digikey. The terminals are typically exposed so mounting this in an enclosure is the safe thing to do.

Here is an article that describes the method quite well. Pay close attention to the fact that some Dell Power Supplies DID NOT follow the standard color coding scheme. Also note that while he used each of the various voltages available from the PS, we really only need the +12V out (I have four connectors on mine all at +12V). Some folks may see a need for the +5V out to power their RX's on the bench, I personally did not.

I bought 2 surplus server PS delivered to my door for less than the cost of that PS.

It is not Power Factor Corrected. Not good if you ever want to power it from a small generator.

These are high quality, PFC power supplies.

They do take a little wiring to operate.
Excellent thread to do this on RC Groups.

Take a look. See if this is something you can do.
