Default rechargeable 9v battery and charger

I am sorry if this has been asked before. I have a duratrax ice charger. Can I charge a 9v rechargeable battery with it? If so, how many cells is a 9v. I saw a 9v charger online that said it was 7.2v. Whats up with that?
Anyway, please help.

Except for the ICE giving an error the charge for Ni is constant current until delta peak. My 9V yellow worked OK at 8 cell and small current of 300mA. Must just try it then ICE will tell you how much it put in then you have ball park of capacity. I watched the graph the first time and saw the peak after about 1 .5 hours. BTW alc is 6 cell 6x 1.5 is 9V so 7cell x 1.2 =8.4V maybe the best setting

My generic 170 mah nimh are 7 cells and I charge at 100 ma and 3 mv delta. Works good, the eveready 9v are 6 cells I think.

I have learned there are three versions. There is a 6 cell that is 7.2V and a 7 cell which is 8.4V and a 8 cell which is 9.6 volt. I really don't see how the 6 cell passed as a 9V battery. I think there is a real problem here. I personally would want the 8 cell. They are a little higher in price but they are going to put out a stronger signal in a radio, won't they? at least I know the signal would last longer. I have found the 8 cells at batteries plus for about $12.00 each.

I think I would agree with you, 8 cell is best. I call my 8 cell batteries 10 volts. I had also looked at some 2S lithiums , yet decided on getting Lithium primary batteries instead. They were 1200 mah and $5

you turned your post upside down. you asked whether your charger wound charge your 9 volt battery. now you have disovered that the 9 volt thing might be one of three types. your charger needs to know how many cells are in the battery. if you know that ,then the charger will work fine. anyway you threw out all that info and went and bought new batteries

I have not bought anything yet. I said I found them at Batteries Plus. I did not say I bought them. Yes I now know that my charger will charge them and I found that out by finding out how many cells the 9 V batteries were. Now I am deciding which ones to get and I am just saying that I think the 8 cells would do better in the transmitter, because I think the extra voltage would make for a better (stronger) signal.
Some one tell me if that is so.

I am getting the feeling that you just don't get it. The radio calls for a 9V battery. I have discovered that there are 3 different types of 9V batteries. I am just trying to decide which is the best one to put in there.

I think the reason they are called 9 volts is because of alkalines 1.5 x 6 = 9 volts ?
I like the nimh x 7 cells and the lithiums I got.
