Default Voltwatch 2 settings 4.8 vs 6 volts

I just got a Voltwatch 2 yesterday and started to mount it in my plane. Before mounting it, I hooked it up to the Rx and at the 4.8v setting is showed a full charge. It has been a couple of weeks since flying and I haven't charged the battery. I checked with my normal volt meter which didn't register a charge. However, when I flipped the Voltwatch to the 6v setting, it showed red which is correct.

I am using the battery that came with my Futaba radio and servos, which said it was a 4.8v 600mah battery. I would have thought that I needed to set the Voltwatch switch for 4.8v.

I charged the battery last night and then today hooked up the Voltwatch and at 6v, it showed fully charged, and so did my volt meter, right around 5.

So, my question is.... is the 6v setting correct even though it's a 4.8v NiCd battery?

Thanks!!!!

From the original voltwatch, at 4.8 volts it would stay green until 4.85 volts then it will go to amber and stay amber until 4.65 volts or less. Fully charged is 5.15 volts so your pack can be less than 100% and still register as full.

Thanks... but let me re-phrase my question.

On the new Voltwatch 2, there is a switch for 6v or 4.8v. Mine seems to be working at 6v, but not 4.8v. At the 4.8 setting, it registered full, when there was no charge at all. When I flip the switch on the Voltwatch to 6v, then it seems to work fine.

Sounds like a faulty unit. Have you contacted Hobbico support for a replacement?

If you are using a 4 cell battery, use the 4.8 volt setting; if a 5 cell battery, use the 6 volt setting.

When you say full, what does that mean?
WHat is the pack voltage at the 4.8 volt setting.
