Is it ok to charge Nimh battery packs with wall chargers?
I have several 1650-2700ma nimh packs. I have always charged them with "specialist" chargers like triton etc. I was wondering if its ok to charge them via the futaba wall charger. They are rated at 70ma, so charging them to peak will take much longer. Barring the time required, I believe that nimh charge pulse and nicd charge pulse are different. Will very low charge rates also make a difference?

No differance between NiMH and NiCD in slow charge it's just in fast that things change the most.
Using the 70 mA assuming the output voltage are correct is OK BUT! man will it take long 1650 is C/23 rate that's 40 hrs and the 2700 is 64 hrs from dead to full charge. Also the 2700 is getting into the trickle charge area so it's really even longer almost two times the capacity. So personally the 70 mA is to small IMHO .....C/10 for 14 to 16 hrs is the recommended factory way.

700mah will be fine to leave on overnight... assuming you get 10 hours sleep of coarse... if you get 8 hours sleep just check them after youve had brekkie and read the paper...

If you want an inexpensive overnight charger, take a look at
http://www.hangtimes.com/chargers.html
Scroll down to the chargers. The second one listed (CH96) has a 180 mah charge rate for4 cell receiver packs and costs $17.95
Other suppliers probably have the same charger, this is the one I know about. I bought one of these along with several 1650 mah receiver packs.
