Default Duratrax Ice problems

Hey Guys, I've had a triton charger for a while and no ploblems, I just purchased a Duratrax Ice and can't get it to charge 4 or 5 cell Nicd at the proper battery specifications. I have programed all the parameters and everything looks good until I press the dial to get into charge mode under (normal) I always get a "High output voltage" error, "please select proper cells". I have a 4 cell pack and I choose a 4 cell pack....what gives? any help would be appreciated.

The battery packs I have are good, I managed to charge them under the "automatic" option

thanks for reading.

Default RE: Duratrax Ice problems

If the ice detects (I think 1.9 volts x 4) then it will go to high voltage error. Three things I can think of are to raise the cell spec and lower the rate, thirdly use short fat leads and good connections.

Does it do it right away?
What is the voltage reading?

If you do not want to use the wrong cell count , then maybe set it on 6 cell just temporarily in order to get a decent voltage reading while wiggling leads and such. The graph is great for detecting bad connections also by simply observing it while chargeing.

If it is not any of this then it kinda reminds me of a worn out battery and the voltage may setle after a few minutes of chargeing.

U-DUD, you are bang on, I lowered the charge rate from the 2.4 amps down 1/10th at a time and everything started working at 1.6 amps, I'm assuming the leads I'm using are too small and too long.

thanks for the info, it was driving me nuts.
