Default Battery Heat?

I am currently building a Willhobby Yak 54 and need to add major weight to the nose. Is it possible to put batteries in the engine cowl with the engine? Will it get to hot for the batteries? I am using two JR Sport 2700mah NiMH Batteries 4.8volt. Thanks....

Insulate the pack from heat and protect it from vibration with foam wrapped around it

So should I completely cover the battery in foam or just once around it? Thanks for your help.....

I use 1/4" thick foam rubber, and wrap it snugly once around the battery. I cut the width of the foam sheet about 1/4" wider on each side of the pack. Tape around the foam with a strong masking tape (I like to use the 3M fiber tape) in the vertical and horizontal directions, and you're done

Ok, thank you for the input. Should level out the plane.
